Roger Goodell: Football's Future If the Players Win

So owning a NFL team is a luxury but playing in the NFL is a right?

You are so fuging stupid you don't even know it.

Spot on. Either he is an NFLPA plant ( rumors of them on teams boards to get sympathy from fans toward players ), a player himself, family member of a player or a flat out idiot. Either way I blocked his dumb ass. I don't have time to deal with stupid children.

Unless, when they re-organize under the new NFL and AFL each franchise enters in a competiting agreement with the other franchises that puts each in the same Salary Cap and Revenue sharing agreement.

Exactly and with two leagues no more anti trust because no more monopoly. I hope they do it. Each league hold a championship and instead of a pro bowl, have a league vs league game which would get more fan interest.

Really? Really? You're going to blame this on unions?

I don't know which year you are in college, but I'm hoping you take Labor Negotiations and Collective Bargaining next semester, so you can understand that if unions did not exist, we would all be earning peanuts while working under slave conditions. Today, businesses are regulated by federal and state laws to prevent employee mistreatment and this is a direct result of unions.

He didn't say that Unions shouldn't exist. He said that Unions don't want competing unions. Of course, I guess some of the players could start another union if they really wanted to.

Unions have certainly served a valuable purpose in US history. But as with anything else, when they are poorly managed, or they stop taking into consideration the health of the company and industry, then they can start causing problems. That could be the case here.

That being said, the owners do need to open the books, else they are just talking to the wind as my wife says.

What cracks me up is the assclown is screaming support unions when in fact the NFLPA said fug UNIONS when they decertified! Hell heads of unions across the US went ape poo when they did that. All the NFLPA did was hurt unions by decertifiying instead of staying at the table and collectively bargaining.

As usual he doesn't know poo

You can already see this in the NBA. Though players get drafted, super stars will never want to come here or other crap teams. And now that Miami has created the new Super Team, that trend will only continue. If it ever happens to that scale in the NFL, the Panthers are done. Charlotte is a place to raise a family, not live for a few years. Money really is the root of all evil.

It's the love of money that is the root of many evils.

You are an enormous fuging idiot.

The union had no choice but to decertify. If they had not decertified, then the lockout would have extended until God knows when. By decertifying they were able to petition the court and stop the ILLEGAL lockout that took place, otherwise they would have had to wait 6 months to file charges, meaning NO FOOTBALL. The players have done everything in their power to get football back on the field. Decertification was their only choice, because the owners forced their hand with the threats of a lockout.

Why don't you read something before you open your stupid ass mouth again.

God you're fuging stupid!

Funny... I work in a "right to work state" just fine. As it turns out, TONS of businesses are FLOCKING here simply for that reason ALONE.

Your understanding of business and competitive markets is juvenile at best

>> Also, to have state-run and subsidized institutions to lecture us on the reality of competitive markets and pure capitalism is an ill-gotten joke. I daresay less than 5% of collegiate professors would know the first thing about running a successful business in the real world. Universities will teach you all day about how to create a fairer system in the guise of administrative law, legislated boondoggles, and pie-in-the-sky visions of the elevation of humanity in the eyes of those persons that know least about their professions of teaching. For all of their collective wisdom, the whims of political hackery aimed at the fears and hates of the masses to their own ends will continue to break what the leaders in the industry continue to innovate. Thing is, you won't be around in 10 years to testify just how this "more perfect union" actually architected the demise of anything that actually produces/works.

blah blah blah blah....

When you get to the next chapter, let me know....maybe that's when you'll learn about the the 9 year olds who work 18 hour days making clothing with no breaks and very little to eat and when they have to use the bathroom there is a bucket next to their station.....

Perspective....does the NFL need a union in 2011? Probably not. Did the NFL need a union in the 1970s? Definately. It is because of the union that players are protected and enjoy financial success for what is an extremely violent and damaging sport.

Why stop there? Why not compare NFL work to slavery? Oh yeah... already been done

>> Thanks for the neg rep... I'll consider it a compliment

Goodell is hurting the owners, Jerry might want to shut him up.

He has lost all credibility with the players....this was not his fight to fight....his position was to support the players and owners, so when business resumes, his name is mud with the players.

Richardson isn't the right guy to shut him up either...Richardson's ego is the reason the owners are getting their arses handed to them right now.

The owners/franchises should be able to setup the NFL system they way they see best, the players should have zero say whatsoever. The Owners should be able to determine amongst themselves, apart from govt., the best way to run their business which includes Salary Caps, Revenue sharing for smaller market teams and Player allocation as they come into the NFL....as well as steroid use, etc.

The players should abide by the rules they then choose to work under, and if they don't like them choose to make their living in Canada, NFL Europe or McDonalds.

Its a break from this basic morality(i.e. trampling of others Private Property Rights) that is the root cause of this mess. Entitlement mentality.
