Anybody been watching 'No Huddle' on NFLN?

It's a panel that breaks down positions or groups of players. It has helped solidify my opinions on players hearing from ex-players, ex-coaches, and ex-scouts/execs.

On Fairley vs. Dareus: Dukes was the only one that liked Fairley better than Dareus basing it on potential alone. Everyone else, especially Warren Sapp, said that Dareus was the real deal and it wasn't even close.

Panel: Chevous, Sapp, Casserly and Dukes

On Gabbert vs. Newton: Corey Chevous was the only one that liked Newton better than Gabbert. He was going on potential in his argument as well. It is funny though, given the last series of a game down more than three points scenario, everyone took Newton. The Gabbert supporters said that fit Newton's game better, but Gabbert would do better given a full game.

Panel: Mooch, Warner, Casserly and Chevous

Interesingly enough, they went back to the Mario Williams selection that everyone thought Charlie was a brain-dead moron for not only taking him over Bush, but Leinart and Vince Young too. Ironic enough, Casserly got it right, though the heat fom the decision ultimately cost him his job.

They will do other groups/positions later.

All I saw was the QB one, it was ok.

Sapp wasVERY impressed with Dareus. That's a huge compliment coming from him. I been watching for a couple hours now...can't remember if it was the same segment, but Sapp worked out Darues and the kid from Missouri. Sapp did not correct Dareus once, but the the other guy several times, even at the 5 technique which you think a DE would excell at over a DT.

I've liked Dareus over Fairley for a little while now, but without a doubt Darues is the better selection.

I asked Sapp on twitter if he thought Dareus was worth the first pick overall, his answer was "absolutely."

I mean Sapps a helluva salesmen. I don't think I am going to be pissed about anyone who we pick out of the Top 8 prospects.

I hated Sapp when he played for the Bucs, but he's probably the best DT in the past 20-years to play the game. So his endorsement...glowing endorsement, means a lot.

Corey Chevous had us taking Jimmy Clausen before the draft last year..so don't take him for granted lol

ALL of them agreed that the 'win now' mentality has ruined some young QBs coming into the league and said one or two years isn't enough time to fully evaluate a QB. The nature of the business dictates success and unfortunately a bad rookie season has one foot out the door.

One thing that I notice is that players like the more pro-ready prospects coming out of the draft. They don't really think about upside much. I agree with that to some degree, but I'm not sure it's always an accurate reflection of how the GM's think. Here's what I thought about the individual debates:

Fairley vs Dareus: I love Darues, Jamie Dukes never knows what he's talking about anyway.

Cam vs Gabbert: I think they just convinced me that Gabbert's the better prospect. That stuff Charlie says about not seeing open guys... that worries me about Cam. Good discussion either way.

I have been listening to Casserly for the last couple of months and think he is a whiny b&tch.

You have to hand it to Mayock. He has the integrity to admit that he doesn't like Newton because his gut tells him Cam's not driven to be the best. He doesn't try to pass it off with inane arguments about 1 read and run, or accuracy issues. I may not agree with him, but I respect his opinion.

Casserly's issues with Cam are character based also. So why try to pretty it up by nonsense about not seeing open receivers. He saw them well enough to complete 67% of his passes with 30 TD's.

Charley needs to grow a pair.
