That's where my wife and I spent our first anniversary last year. The spa is expensive, but it is so relaxing.

We are thinking about going to this place soon. About.com readers choice contest rated it the 2nd most romantic hotel in the world and the #1 in North America. Not that it means much but it seems to be very nice.

San Diego is my vote for the great weather, great food, laid back locals. Although for a short trip I don't know that it makes as much sense.

We will get to California one day. I lived in San Diego for a year back in the early 80s when I was in the Navy and loved it.

Took the wife to Niagra falls a few years back. 2-3 days is good for it, and the flight isn't very long. But it is expensive. Stayed at the Embassy Suites with an excellent view of the falls and it was around 300 a night. And it is somewhat romatic.

Another option would be a trip to New York for a couple of days. Broadway show, nice meals, museums and let her go shopping. But thats another budget buster.
