Yeah the whole flying thing is not working out too well.

We are going on a big family trip to New England in August. Unfortunately the Sawx are out of town when we are there but we may do a stadium tour.

I looked at a quick Carribean trip but again, flights are not very conducive to a short stay. Miami had most of the same restrictions but is in the realm of possibility.

I'll look at Grove Park; PL the whole Tennesee cabin thing might work out as it's different from where we usually go - Also looking at Hilton Head, keep em coming!

Sanderling Spa & Resort out in Duck (Outer Banks) might be a little cheaper and I personally love the Outer Banks. Jockey's Ridge. Awesome restaurants/food (Owen's). Manteo (aquarium, Lost Colony), wild horses, lighthouses.

and it's not blistering hot yet...AND pre-season.

Kiawah island not too expensive this time of year for a little condo.

LIke others if you haven't been to biltmore in Asheville it's a no brainer with the winery tour and free tastings too. Priceline yourself a hotel there.

One thing people have missed is look on US Airways for E-savers and pick a city to fly to randomly. A city you've never been to before can be had for cheap then look on the map and find all kinds of things to do there. Again, priceline a hotel and rental car but preferably just get a cab.

Don't know budget...

we did a (pre-kids) quick trip to Boston and rented a car and drove to Kennebunkport to a B&B. Ate great. Cool weather (mid-June). She was into hitting the little antique shops on way up. Came back to Boston and stayed at the Lennox (had a deal for two nights that was cheaper than a single at cheaper hotels). Walked Boston...ton to see. Saw Yanks/Red Sox game. Great trip.

Boston is awesome!!! You could rent a car and drive up the coast to Rockport as well.

Cat thanks - now I HAVE to get the family up to Rockport when we go up in August. When I was in 6th grade my parents took us there for a weekend and I thought it was the coolest place I'd ever seen. We stayed in an old funky motel with a giant brass bed and walked our shoes off shopping and eating fried clams....
