The final case for Cam Newton

i dont think your ever going to sell newton by knocking down Dareus cause its pretty clear he is an elite DT, but lets just face facts a dominant QB is just going to win you more ball games than a dominant DT every day of the week. if you dont pick QB at 1 your are pretty much saying you have the position covered which we dont OR none of the top tops are going to ever be competent players in the NFL...

If you just want a fat guy to clog up space, I'm sure Hollis Thomas would be willing to resign. I have a feeling he'd accept a little less than $60 million too.

But really though, I'm done talking about a nobody like Dareus. He won't be the pick. I'm wasting my time, he's irrelevant for our purposes.

it's obvious you have absolutely no idea how different defenses works or you're just ignoring it because you're so fuging obsessed with Newton, so I'm outta this thread.

I do. Honestly, a 4-3 guy like Nick Fairley would work much better with what Ron Rivera and Sean McDermott are going to be doing...that is if he was willing to show up for practices, games, etc.

So what exactly are you saying here? That Collins, McNair and Marino are equal because they have no rings?

Why don't we just throw Clausen in with Marino while we are at it?

McNair's career QB rating is almost 10 points higher than Collins'.

The point is that rings matter and the rest really doesn't. The only exception is if you're the best in the game that never got to the promised land in Marino's case. My point, to a lesser extent, was that Manning was OH sooo close to being in Marino's shoes had the Bears not had been their opponent. Mark my words, Manning will not get another. That one Super Bowl will keep him from Marino's dubious distiction.

The main point was while this QB may be all that in our eyes, unless he's a Tom Brady of Ben Rothlesburger, nobody outside of our fanbase will really give a rats @ss about his stats without a ring.

I think Cam is a good 2-3 years away from being able to do that at best. I'm not sure I wanna wait that long.

If you think Cam is good then you should want the Panthers to pick him!! Otherwise unless Clausen turns out to be a franchise QB it is going to take just as long if not longer then 2-3 yrs , if even that, before the Panthers get themselves a viable young starting QB. Its not like some kid they draft next year will be ready before Cam,,,,, possibly not even Andrew Luck.

Avvy bet? Newton vs. Dareus. What do you have to lose? You're in the 99% that thinks Newton is the pick and I'm in the meager 1% that thinks Dareus is.

It should be a no-brainer for you.

For what its worth Dareus is widley regarded to be able to fit any D-line scheme.

Also if you watch him play, its pretty clear he's not some guy who just uses his size to plug in hole's. He shown pretty good speed and quickness for a DT wether thats pressure or running down ball carriers.

Yep, also ran down and sacked Cam Newton...yes, Cam Newton.
