The final case for Cam Newton

On a defensive line as good as Alabama's he had a grand total of 11 sacks in his career? 0 forced fumbles? This guy is not an impact player, especially not worthy of #1 overall. People thought Peppers had a ridiculous contract in 2008...yet some are willing to give potentially $60 million+ to a DT with 11 career sacks and 0 forced fumbles? $5.5 million per college sack?

Bowers had 5 more sacks just last year than Dareus had...in his entire career combined.

Do you know what the job is for a DT in a 3-4 defense?

OMG Landri is better than Vince Wilfork because he had more sacks! Guess we don't need a DT after all!

well we are going to be running a 4-3 a lot and you kind of expect your best DT's to be more disruptive..

Yeah, let's not forget what defense we'll be running here lol.

OMG that's another strike against Dareus! Will he or won't he be able to learn the nuances of the 4-3?? Will he be able to adjust and learn the verbiage??

Suh had 23 sacks at the DT spot and went #2 overall. Hell, even Gerald McCoy at #3 last year had 14 career college sacks.

What part of typically don't you understand? I would rather have pressures and gap protection than 8 sacks and lack of gap integrity.

Hence, an easier transition to the NFL. No knock on Newton, it's something that might be a plus for another QB.

Yeah some people are afraid of Newton having to transition to the game..but me personally I'm more excited by the prospect of watching him learn the game from our coaches and when he gets it will be our division who has to draft players to stop him. some people don't see it this way and it's just a matter of opinion. I for one don't mind seeing him grow up as a player on our team.

Nice try, but facts are facts...0 Super Bowls are 0 Super Bowls. Rings matter, stats don't...ask Marino.

So what exactly are you saying here? That Collins, McNair and Marino are equal because they have no rings?

Why don't we just throw Clausen in with Marino while we are at it?

McNair's career QB rating is almost 10 points higher than Collins'.
