The final case for Cam Newton

Collins has had a solid NFL career. McNair is dead while Collins is still in the NFL and was even playing earlier this year.

I didn't say any of that. Just saying Collins has had a respectable career and we get additional picks in the process. McNair never won a championship either.

sorry, just laughing at this joke of a poster.. please, feel free to accept my freedom of speech. ;)

This thread reminds me of a few things.

1) JoaT is my hommie, but his "Darius" postings were possibly the single most annoying thing I have experienced on the huddle.

2) Cam will forever be known as the thing that finally brought Me and SMF to the same page after years of me being right and SMF being wrong.

Cam Newton has it all. He's smart. He's a leader. He's a winner. He's accurate. He has a great arm. He's extremely difficult to bring down. He is not someone defenders want to see in the open field. He shredded the defenses of the vaunted SEC. He's a bona fide SUPERSTAR, something Charlotte has NEVER had in any sport (except...NASCAR).

He has the potential to be the best player in this entire draft at a position where we need help most. Unless you have a can't-miss prospect at a non-quarterback position that you know is going to dominate like Ndamukong Suh, the quarterback position is the default spot for the #1 overall pick. No other position has NEARLY the impact on the team that the quarterback does. A defensive tackle that never put up impressive stats in college certainly isn't worth a #1 overall pick. And neither is a cornerback. No cornerback has ever been drafted #TWO in the modern era, much less #1. They simply don't have enough impact on a game. The past 3 superstar cornerbacks (Revis, Asomugha, Champ Bailey) haven't sniffed Super Bowl wins. You can't say the same about the best 3 superstar quarterbacks. Peyton, Brady, and Brees have 5 Super Bowl wins between them.

Friends, we are entering the final week before the team we love makes its most important decision since they traded down for Kerry Collins. I hope they don't make the same playing-it-safe mistake that they did before that cost them so dearly.

Cam Newton for the #1 pick.

When folks ask if anyone believe before hand Cam would have been doing what he's doing, one can turn to this post.

No, I'm sure he didn't know that Cam was goin to be breaking all kinds of rookie records but he clearly believed in the kid and I'm sure that is all Cam wants many of you Panthers' fans to do...Give him a chance to prove himself and believe in him like the Colts believed in Manning and Patriots in Tom Brady.

Darius has been a force this year, he would have been a good pick. In retrospect it would have been horribly wrong, just like I was, but I have since seen the light.

I literally am never wrong. This thread is only my crown jewel in my rightness.

Um...didn't Collins have major red flags for character issues...and McNair did not?

And it wasn't Collins talent that let us down but rather his personal issues?

So wouldn't it be more accurate to say

Newton = Collins w McNairs Legs and arm

Gabbert = McNair without black

?

Okay, even though I have done it a hundred times.

Downsides for Cam Newton:

-Maturity and character concerns

-Only one season of major college experience

-Relies too much on athleticism over fundamentals

-Hardly any experience under center

-Mostly makes only one or two reads

-Family Issues

-Character Issues

Upsides:

-Strong Arm

-Athletic

-Won games at Auburn

I have done this so many times without name calling at all

=/

He is to loyal to his scum bag of a father, family issue. His father has some serious issues and Cam will follow his dad to the edge of a cliff from what I have seen.

And no, even if somehow Cam was the pick I would not throw anything or yell, I would shrug and watch the rest of the draft. Good thing he is not going to be the pick, I promise you that.

lol
