The final case for Cam Newton

Absolutely.

And I don't believe Jake was ever known as a cerebral QB or a guy who was the first in and last out of the building.

But he had good instincts and knew how to get everyone to follow him into battle. He just didn't have the god given talent.

Actually jake was widely known as the first guy in and last guy out.

As an Auburn fan, I'm visiting your forum because some say the Panthers are considering taking Cam. That would be cool, because there are many Auburn grads living within driving distance who would enjoy watching Cam as newbie Panther fans. We don't have an NFL team in Alabama, and we love our football.

I don't fault anyone for worrying about Cam's character, after all the bad publicity he's received, some of it deserved.

While at Blinn for a year, winning the JUCO national championship, and while at Auburn, winning the SEC and BCS championships, Cam stayed out of trouble. He impressed our rising seniors, including Lee Ziemba and the rest of our OL, last winter and spring immediately with his work ethic. I know a lot of kids in school at Auburn, including my nephew, and they said he was a tireless student, watching film and practicing, in far excess of scheduled practices.

He was an amazing leader, and he inspired and demanded that the whole team play their hearts out. Cam was not my pick for QB at Auburn. I was a long-time Barrett Trotter fan, and I was disappointed when Cam was chosen as QB. I didn't see how he could learn yet another offense in so short a time, especially when Cam was considered a pure pocket passer in high school, and we needed a passing and running QB.

He won us over with his charisma and his effort and his talent. Our players never quit with Cam in there. They believed in him, and played for him, and we had a magical season because of him.

Cam sets goals and goes after them. He learns fast because he studies and work incredibly hard. My nephew had class with him and he came in and smiled at everyone in the mornings, and took all the attention with a sense of humor, and was quiet and respectful in class.

So if you do end up getting Cam, please get ready to welcome some Auburn fans, and get ready to win some championships. Because winning is what Cam is all about.

And you're probably right.

It is just that I never had the mental picture of Jake as a Peyton Manning type that was obsessive about film study. But it could be selective memory, as most of what you read about him was about his infectious personality, his come from behind heroics, etc.

Nonetheless, I stand corrected.

were auburn fans having the same argument about him as we are before he went on a tear at auburn?

What is everyone basing Cam Newtons' intelligence on; tell me it's not his Wonderlic score. Honestly, I don't know what else it could be. It can't be the way he talks or conducts himself. He talks very smooth, that’s why half of the media thinks he is fake or the antichrist. It can't be the way he conducts himself, he is a confident athlete that exuberates greatness and always looks like he is having a fun time out on the football field. Imagine Tom Brady without his confident stares at Rex Ryan, where he lets Rex know that he owns him. Imagine Drew Brees without his “Who Dat” chant. Imagine Peyton without his humorous personality seen in his Visa commercials. All of these guys exuberate greatness and confidence in their conduct and Newton is trying to do the same thing.

If you want to base Newton’s intelligence off of his GPA that most of you probably don’t know, then go ahead and try. Cam Newton graduated high school with a 3.35 and he graduated Auburn with a 3.2. Now before someone makes the smart ass comment that he cheated to get that GPA, first think about the ignorant comment you’re about to make. Cheating to get a GPA would require hacking a computer, because one test that you cheat on to make a 100 is not going to alter your GPA. Also every one of you needs to think back and remember the time you cheated on your test, and then when you remember that time you will understand how foolish your argument for Cam Newton’s stupidity really is; because cheating on a test, quiz, exam, etc… does not indicate stupidity, it indicates a lack of judgment. Now if you can’t remember a time you cheated on a test, then think about a time you cheated in life, because everyone has done that and the outcome is the same. You cheat in life (Ex: steal, lie, etc…) and you get the better outcome than another individual. Cheating does not equate to someone’s intelligence. More than half of the student athletes in the NCAA have admitted to cheating (Ex: test, exam, copying, plagiarism) however, after research from different colleges I have found that the average GPA for a student athlete is a 2.6 and like I said Cam Newton graduated with a 3.2. The concept that Newton is stupid and foolish really needs to stop because it indicates the laziness, flawed judgment, and reality the stupidity of everyone arguing against the facts and common knowledge that I just presented.

If you want to base the argument for stupidity on Newton’s Wonderlic scores, then lets look at more facts.

Wonderlic’s

Alex Smith (Wonderlic- 40)

Matt Leinart (Wonderlic- 35)

Joey Harrington (Wonderlic- 32)

J.P. Losman (Wonderlic- 31)

Kerry Collins (Wonderlic- 30)

Chris Weinke (Wonderlic- 29)

Cade McNown (Wonderlic- 28)

Ryan Leaf (Wonderlic- 27)

Cam Newton (Wonderlic- 21)

Michael Vick (Wonderlic- 20)

Terry Bradshaw (Wonderlic- 15):

Dan Marino (Wonderlic- 15)

Randall Cunningham (Wonderlic- 15)

Steve McNair (Wonderlic- 15)

Donovan McNabb (Wonderlic- 14)

David Garrard (Wonderlic- 14)

This really proves that Wonderlic’s are essentially garbage and they mean nothing. Some of the best quarterback’s have had the best wonderlic scores and worst wonderlic scores, then some of the worst quarterback’s have had some of the best wonderlic scores and worst wonderlic scores. I really don’t know how you would put much if any stock into wonderlic scores.

Ok, I’m done.
