here we go again with these claims that Newton is dumb....I guess Aurburns coaches are dumb as well for making such a playbook....Newton has more education than half the people who post on this board.

football isn't a game where you have to be a rhode scholar anyways..the plays they have to learn don't require they solve equations in the process..they aren't required to write a thesis paper on how to read defenses and call audibles..it's all just memorization and exectution..

also coaches don't want super smart guys either since they want to be doing the teaching not be the ones being taught..

very true, but some argue that Jake isn't the level of QB play we should be aiming for. personally I loved the guy but hey.

I think people are missing the key Football idea. You dont have to be able to read every defense know the coverage. Just be able to excute in a fashion without turning the ball over and setting your WR or RB up for the kill. If anything this hurt the coaches more then throwing a INT.

Absolutely.

And I don't believe Jake was ever known as a cerebral QB or a guy who was the first in and last out of the building.

But he had good instincts and knew how to get everyone to follow him into battle. He just didn't have the god given talent.
