The final case for Cam Newton

Playing safe got us no where???? Buffalo has been no where recently, The lions have been nowhere, the chiefs have been nowhere.... We were within a kickoff of winning a superbowl, gotten to a few NFC championship games, Some division titles, and first round bye. Comparing our past 10 years to others I would not say that is nowhere...

People are saying that because it sounds good, but really it is not true.

Cam has show he can execute, Cam has shown football QB instincts, Cam has displayed ball control, Cam has displayed ball protection, Cam has displayed a better deep ball than Jimmy, Cam has displayed he wants to learn, Cam is a human just like us who all learn every day. All players are projects at some levels, not all will make it, but seriously Cam has more talent than Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins combined

Instead of starting yet another Cam thread i will post a recent thought of mine here.

THE FINAL CASE AGAINST CAM NEWTON.

The hype train pulled into Charlotte and out came the kid with the golden legs and mega watt smile. Who cares if he had some small character issues? We are not putting together a choir. Who cares that he ran a simplistic offense that has little to nothing to do with the pro game? It's not like film study, preparation, and intelligence are as important as a BIG ARM or being MOBILE.

So Cam Newtron and his entourage of his father Mr. $$, Bus Cook, and Perennial Sports and Entertainment Management group saunter into the boardroom. After much posturing and bull from both sides we sign our Franchise QB. Unfortunately because of the new CBA and rookie salary cap we can only sign our franchise QB for 2-4 years with the promise of renegotiation and incentive based bonuses. Come time for a new contract Cam pushes his way out in a way that makes Pep leaving seem like a happy memory. Don't worry though all you CAM NUT HANGERS can follow him in 2015 when he is a L.A. Jaguar.

In case you missed it or are too emotionally invested in Cam that you want a briefer synopsis. CAM WILL TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN TO A BIGGER MARKET. Contract negotiations with him and his army of sycophants and leeches will be a nightmare from day one. HE IS DUMB. Yes, i said it. He is football dumb. He does not seem coachable and his so called swag is gonna run him into big trouble with no nonsense Rivera.

There's a reason why you have over 800 post and no rep power my friend.

I don't care about anything but competing for a Superbowl on a consistent basis and ultimately winning one. Think about the top 5 QBs in the NFL right now: Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, and Brees. I don't care what you say about Brady and Brees, they are all great athletes with cannons for arms that can make any NFL throw. You need someone with a certain level of physical talent to be an elite QB in this league. Hell, even the second tier of QBs are great athletes: Ryan, Freeman, Rivers, E. Manning, Schaub.

I think its insane to think that Clausen is any sort of talent like that, and its insane for any GM or owner to draft QBs like Dalton, Mallet, Ponder, or any of those people that aren't elite athletes. None of the QBS I just mentioned could ever make that throw up the seam to Greg Jennings that Rodgers made in the SB, you just need a cannon for an arm and a whole lot of moxy. I put people through the "ESPN Cam" test. If i can imagine a QB making a throw like that with the camera panning behind the QB , than I think they are worth drafting. If not, than they shouldn't be drafted in the first round, period.

Bottom line: Newton and Gabbert are the only QBs in this draft that have that kind of upside. With the recent success of QBS like Big Ben and Rodgers, I think the NFL SB winning QB is moving towards big QBs with cannons for arms and who can escape the pocket. Cam Newton is the only one with that kind of ability. If he can put it together like Big Ben and Rodgers, he will be great. If not, he will be just another athletic QB who couldn't learn how to read defenses and do what it takes to be an NFL qb. But don't you want to at least take a chance?

Ok so everyone has nothing to say about the very real prospect of a contract hold out and Cam bolting to a bigger market once his contract expires with us huh? People seem to think this year is the same as every other. That we can sign our top pick to a 6-7 year and be done with it. But then again paying attention to details is not the fans job.

That is a huge reason why many of you are gonna be disappointed on draft day when we pass on your friend Cam.

That's your opinion and all speculative.... We have just as much chance of losing him as any other player we draft...

Also if there is a New rookie wage scale in place I'm sure Cam would happily re up going into his final year than playing out his rookie contract.

Finally that is not a worry of mines when discussing Cam. I believe he will be a loyal dedicated player to whatever team drafts him. Not only that but to me he comes of as a player who is ver commited to his teammates above all else, so I don't see him dissing them the first chance he gets.... I have other concerns, and this is not one.

There's not much to say about that honestly. All of what you said is possible, but I would rather not speculate on that since he has not said that he doesn't want to play here and the bigger factor of there being no CBA in place right now.

Speculating again and stating your opinion like its a fact. What would you say if Carolina did draft Cam Newton? Oh, you would likely not post again.

Is it not all speculation and opinions? I mean we are on a forum right. And no i will not stop posting if Cam is the pick. If he is half as good as some of you SPECULATE AND THINK he will be i will happy.

Also i don't think we have just as much chance of losing him as any other player. I think Cam wanting to be an icon and the fact that his agent is the same one that rented Bret out to the Jets says alot. A defensive player like Dareus or PP is not gonna jump ship. Defensive guys are gonna love playing for Rivera. Cam on the other hand seems like he may want to bristle up a bit. Maybe it's just his SWAG.

Do you?

A lot of that was on Hurney for changing the industry standard, it had nothing to do with money.

I didnt say anything about money

But three times in this franchise's history our first round pick held out for any reason. One was a linebacker, a defensive end, and a running back. Did Mick eye forsee them holding out too?

Genius comparison...

Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert = Obama and Mccain

Neither were ready to run the country, it's too bad we didn't have anyone else to vote for.

Thank God for Dareus, PP7, and AJ Green, or we would be stuck in a crappy situation like the country is now!

:p
