The final case for Cam Newton

So he's wrong for what you dub hate, but you're right for blindly loving someone who has issues? Issues that matter to everyone but the nut huggers?

Sounds like a double standard to me.

What makes you think I love Cam? Do I like him as the #1 pick yes. Do I like other players with the #1 pick, yes. Do any of the other prospects get bashed and disrespected like Cam Newton does, no. Except for rare occasions like someone saying Gabbert had a homo look to him or something.

Also yes saying someones father is a scumbag when you know nothing about the man personally is hate and disrespectful. If you don't think so then I find that surprising.

Also those issues don't matter to a ton of people who are not so called "nut huggers". And what gives you the right to deem someone a nut hugger. I am not a cam "nut hugger." So therefore I can stand as one person who is not a Cam nut hugger and is not concerned with his character issues.

Accusations of stealing from teammates by teammates

I've seen this mentioned on the forum a couple of times. Help me out. Where does this come from?

If he really did this, to me it would be much more damning than the other stuff. So if you have any links, even to rumors, I would appreciate you passing them along.

I don't need to know him personally or otherwise to form an opinion. He tried to ***** his son out to the highest bidder and I don't believe for a damn millisecond that Cam didn't know anything about it.

I didn't know Hitler either, but I'm pretty comfortable not liking him.

Would Cam "apologist" make you feel any better?

It was an article written in Florida, good but long article. I'll see if I can find it.

No, how about we be mature and stop the name calling.

Man I guess NFL players are whores and their agents are pimps by your standards.

You act like Colleges never give kids money to play for them. Let alone a player or parent asking for it.

Holy sh1t dude, are you really that frigging oblivious?

Buying stolen propery ( grand larceny)

Throwing it out a window when cops arrive

12 traffic tickets in two years

Academic fraud/cheating (3 counts)

Accusations of stealing from teammates by teammates

Pay for play

This goes beyond college shenanigans or immaturity. I'm sure you'll break your back bending over backwards trying to rationalize all this, but it doesn't matter. I don't want my QB to have his own mug shot and as much controversy as a 10 term politician.

Buying stolen propery ( grand larceny): Do not know all the details. In some scenarios it would be understandable.

Throwing it out a window when cops arrive: Stupid, yet understandable.

12 traffic tickets in two years: Have friends who have way worse. Arrested for forgetting to pay ticket, DUI, Driving without a license, etc. Irresponsible, yes. Do I look at them as less of a person, no.

Academic fraud/cheating (3 counts) Only one that semi concerns me because you have to be pretty blatant to get caught. But I did not hear about it happening at Auburn unless I missed something, which is a good thing

Accusations of stealing from teammates by teammates: Never heard any credible story about this. Key word (Accusations) Never read anywhere that he was actually caught stealing.

Pay for play: Could care less. He was not the first and I will guarantee he won't be the last unless the NCAA makes some major changes.

You're right, they're really victims. How short sighted of me, rules are open for arbitrary interpretation I guess.

I was making a joke. "Sort of" Yes rules in some cases are BS. Same goes for Laws. My belief is if the person who enforces the rule or law does not abide by them. Why should you? It falls more on the schools because they are the ones actually paying the money. This goes more into politics. You hear almost every day now about some BS corruption going on with the people who run this country. GE not paying taxes. GE ceo friends with Obama. It is all a big joke.

I can agree with those except 2 and 3. We already discussed the laptop thing, I just think its stupid, not understandable. The traffic tickets don't make him less of a person, but repeatedly getting them could be seen as he didn't learn from them.

Told you that you'd rationalize all of it.

Cam apologist to the core, simple as that.

Not at all. I am just being realistic. Now if you had something listed like what Michael Vick did, then there is not a logical way to rationalize that.

This is all true but like I said with the cheating (should of applied this to all of it.) Nothing to my knowledge happened in his year with Auburn. Even the pay to play was before he was actually attending Auburn.

Correct me if I am wrong because I honestly might be missing something that happened.

Maybe he didn't do anything at Auburn and he learned him lesson from those other things. But we don't know whether he did or not. Some don't think he has, others do.

Here's the point some of us are trying to make...

Yes, Cam did some bad stuff at Florida. He admits that he was immature and made mistakes. But he has been cleaner since then than Marcel Dareus. Unless you think the NCAA is covering for him as well.

Peyton Manning wasn't a saint in college either. Do we define Peyton by what he did at Tennessee, or give him the benefit of the doubt that he is a better person now?

Just because you made some mistakes a few years ago, especially at that young age, doesn't define you as a person. It is how you respond and learn from those mistakes that define you.
