Anybody but a QB....

I changed opinions so many times about who we should take with the first overall pick ever since Andrew Luck decided to be a douche and return to Stanford, but my final opinion has been set and I do NOT want Gabbert or Newton. There are so many positives with Dareus, Green, and Peterson who are all x10 safer picks than either of the QBs.

Dareus: fills arguably the biggest need on the team, doesn't have the potential of Green or Peterson but he can be a top 10 DT for years to come which would be huge for us.

Peterson: I hear all this: "We need a QB since the NFC South is loaded with amazing QB's" well since Gabbert and Newton both may bust, Peterson would come in and give us the best corner duo in the south and give us the ability to shut down the Saints, Buccs, and Falcons for years to come.

Green: We all know, Smith is gettin old and Gettis and LaFell neither have potential to be a #1 WR, Green can though and instantly gives Clausen another weapon.

Please FO, no QB!

If Luck or even Bradford were around for this draft, I would say take them. But I just don't see anything improving by taking Cam Newton. I think he will be an epic bust at #1. Honestly, I put him right on par with The Golden Calf of Bristol. The Golden Calf of Bristol won a Heisman and National Title and ran all over the place in college. And he was a late first rounder, lucky at that.

I have no problem with Luck's decision, I wish him all the best as it's his life and his career.

I don't believe the nonsense that he went back to school just to spite us and personally think that line of thinking is just stupid.

However, I don't see a strong enough QB candidate in the class to take first overall. I think Gabbert is close, but something with him is missing and I can't quite put my finger on it.

and The Golden Calf of Bristol looked every bit as good as Bradford....

Not really....or anything close.

Both played in lousy divisions. The Golden Calf of Bristol saw much less action. In spite of the fact that he was not expected to be in Bradford's class, he ended up with a higher QB rating. QB rating doesn't tell the whole story, granted, but The Golden Calf of Bristol played well as a rookie.

All I know for sure is we would have been a better team last year, and would feel much better about the coming year, if we had either of them on the roster.

Actually, I watched quite a bit of both, they were comparable as college QB's, but nothing close as in terms of readiness for the NFL.

yeah, that is what the world said.....and that was probably true in regards to week 1 and the start of the year.

but when The Golden Calf of Bristol got on the field and started as a rookie.....Bradford wasn't better. Could easily argue The Golden Calf of Bristol was more impressive as he did more.

Sooo if he was so amazing why are there questions in Denver rather he will be the starter or not??

    • No one is asking him to be Tom Brady. They're just asking him to be as good if not better than Cooper Rush, Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz. We'd like Young to be better than Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, but we're not even asking for that. No matter how you cut it he's going to be considered a bust for what was given up for him. He should be outpacing Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins game for game in their careers. He should at least be challenging the clutch level of Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Goff, Garoppolo, Burrow, Hurts and Purdy. Remember that's based on the draft capital given up for Young, and not the extremely low bar Young has actually set for himself.
    • Even if you cherry pick Bryce post benching and ignore everything else and project it out over a full season….. there is no statistical  argument Kyler has ever been worse.   I’m no Murray fan as I agree he is more athlete than QB.   And I’m open to Bryce improving and support us continuing to develop him as this point.
    • We need LBs--build the roster from the bottom up.  On offense, we have Coker who has been huge...if you fill your weaknesse without having to use free agent $$$ or draft picks--win win.
