rotoworld slipped?

even if the information was legit from the panthers' draft board (but it's not) why would rotoworld "slip"?

they wouldn't want to hide it.

they would want to be the first to break the news...just like everyone else who is trying to pick hurney's brain.

I think the theory that it was a "slip" is based on the fact that it disappeared for a bit.

I think that was probably just a glitch though. Sadly, I've seen a lot of those on Rotoworld lately.

Let's see: Last season, Hurney nearly trades our first rounder this season to move up to the 33 spot and take Clausen. He didn't. Clausen falls. We take a guy with concerns over his leadership and sense of entitlement. Red flags that he ignored.

Then he makes a trade to reach for a running QB who won a national championship. He sees the link between college stardom and professional responsibilities. Even if Edwards was to be a WR, he was also to be a wildcat QB. That did not go well. He ignored the fact that the bigger the gap between college responsibilites and professional duties, the greater the risk and the time involved.

That is why we are picking Dareus. That is why this makes sense.

Bullshit. Hurney made it very clear during the press conference after we picked Clausen that next (this) years first was NEVER on the table when considering trading up.

Man, if we still had the 33rd pick, going Dareus #1 Dalton #33 would be incredible.

Judging by Hurney's past and with how talent rich this draft is in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, I'd say there is a solid chance we make some moves to get back.

I'd rather see the team take Dareus, PP, or Green knowing that in this lockout year of football, with a hard schedule if they do play, the team has a shot at Luck. It'll take the #1 pick again though to get him.

You have to think about more QBs than just Luck. IMO we are destined for the top 5 no matter who we take. So the question is whether or not JR is willing to accept that and make this a 2-3 year process rather than trying a quick one year turnaround. The top QBs next year are probably Luck and Jones. So we could be looking at next year being a 1 QB class as well. Jones and Barkley haven't really impressed me so far.

I said I don't take Softli seriously when it comes to player evaluation because he's proven to be bad at it. I still don't.

The whole point was that there are guys who objectively are good and objectively bad. Those judgments shouldn't be made solely based on whether they agree with your opinion or not. There are guys whose opinions I respect who disagree with me, and conversely guys who agree with me whose opinions I don't pay that much attention to. Softli is in the second group, and that's not likely to change.

It's factual that he said this. That doesn't mean he's right. He may be, or he may not be, but the only thing that can be factually stated at this point is "Tony Softli thinks this will happen".

Put pretty much any other name in there and it doesn't really change much.

Previous thread is here for comparison's sake (link)

The only problem is that when some of you guys were denigrating Softli it wasn't an evaluation, it was a report on what he found when he investigated Cam Newton's character. It was opposite of Narwocki's report so everyone of the Haters slammed the guy for being a terrible evaluator of talent which wasn't even what he was doing in that instance. It was high comedy on the Haters Seas.
