carolina's first pick will NOT...

Recommended Posts

if you're counting Moore as on the team I'd say that DT and QB are pretty close all things being equal. We have a huge hole at DT. At least at QB we have a decent backup and some young talent the team believes.

but obviously QB isn't equal to DT in terms of the value to the team. Still, if there isn't anyone you like at QB, DT is the next biggest need IMO.

Honestly?

The way Hurney asked Yas about depth of quarterback in this draft, I almost wonder...

...naah.

This guy is amazing, his accuracy and arm strength has got me happy, AJ Green is a absolute raw monster.

Or we could trade down draft Fairley and Kapernick and kill two birds with one stone.

Do you know if we've worked out with Kapernick yet?

Not that I know of, no... I don't see us in a position to draft him unless he falls and we pass on a QB early.

I'd gladly take him though... would rather have him than Jimmy.

Or we could go for Stanzi. ;)

Or a superior, game changing CB/ST guy, widely regarded as the best athlete in the draft.

Anyway, we need something to happen, scoreboard-wise next year and a fuging DT is not going to do that. I'm not, and doubt many Panthers fans are in favor of another run at Andrew Luck (with another year of eligibility).

...be a wr.

it wouldn't matter if steve smith was off the team tomorrow.

lafell and gettis both showed promise despite the circumstances last season, and shockey has been added to the mix.

carolina's first pick is not going to be a wr.

for me, this is almost as aggravating as the assinine QB crap that's being argued around here.

Gettis and Lafell are role players. Neither is ever going to be confused with a #1 WR.

Never say never. They could compare Dareus to Dorsey, Cam to Russell, and Green to Calvin Johnson. If that is how I felt, WR it is.

Green has been called the safest pick at the top of the draft; Hurney likes safe first rounders. I think the pick will be Dareus, but Green is my second choice. Considering the draft is deep at DT and there are only 1-2 #1 WRs ready to play now (arguably), I see Green as a real option. Word is they like him a lot. WHy do you not know that? Because the press is only interested in Cam Newton questions.

I think they will try very hard to trade out of the first spot. I am feeling Buffalo, but it could be someone like Washington. Then I expect we will trade back up to get Green or Peterson.

Green - Jake Locker (trade up to the second, why not)

Yum

We are forgetting the amount of cap room (salary) we have. I imagine about $10-30 million for free agents after we re-sign our core. If we lose Williams and trade smith, we have a ton. So, trading up and packaging our picks to get 2 top need players is not a bad idea.

I would really like it if we started by trading down.

Imagine offering Buffalo a trade for their second rounder. Good deal, and Buffalo gets Newton.

Take Green.

With the second rounder, take a QB--Dalton, Ponder, even Mallett could be there. Mallett? worth the risk as a second rounder.

    • Some of you who are not sold on Canales are insane. His main purpose was to turn around Bryce Young’s career and he did that. Of all of the teams in the top 10 of the NFL draft, we were the team that was consistently showing the most fight week in and week out. Our players never quit on the season. The offense which he is responsible for took a huge step forward compared to last year, despite the lack of skill talent  that we have. It was our defense that was a mess. That’s one of my critiques on Canales. He should’ve gotten rid of Evero and hired his own DC that shares the same vision. But as a whole, I can’t see how people are not pleased with what Canales did with this team. I’d give him an 9/10
    • One of the first thoughts after the game yesterday was that JT was going to jump all over it. He's been more favorable about BY from the beginning, and so yesterday must've felt like Christmas.
    • Maybe, but they were always going to be an impossible team to accurately mocked right now. They have an absurd amount of cap room, what they need right now will not be what they need come draft day.  They can make multiple big splash signings and even make trades for players who need new contracts and their teams don't want to give it to them. OT and WR might be their two biggest needs right now, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they could go into the draft needing neither of them.  I think a LT will be their top FA priority, also think they're going to make a big offer to Higgins, and I could see them being a team in the running to trade for someone like DK Metcalf as they need a WR like him and they have the cap space to give him a big new contract.
