I came to a realization today...

I understand. But if we pick defense, Darius, then we will have Clausen again. I for one think Clausen will greatly improve, so that sticks us with what, the 5th, 6th pick next year? Maybe as low as 3rd. But that doesn't give us Luck.

Luck will be drafted number 1 next year, not by us. I haven't looked into the other QB's available next year, so I will have to do some research. But I am sure the panthers have looked at it, and know that Newton stands a much better chance than the other QB's next year.

So what is it? Would you rather take Newton, a possible franchise guy, and let him learn and gain experience? Or would you rather delay the whole thing until next year, when we don't get Luck and are stuck in the same situation that we are in right now?

The way I see it, we need to take the chance now, rather than later. I don't like Gabbart, I don't like Mallet, we won't get Luck next year, and who knows what kind of crappy QB's will be available in the next draft. Newton is the best chance, now and for next year, to have a QB that will be solid. So what if we do bad this season, we will have a decent QB roster, and we can draft all kinds of defense next draft.

I dunno, Newton just feels like the right pick. There are no guarentees in the draft, but he just seems to be the guy.

Evidence to prove this? Not drafting a QB first doesn't mean we will stick with Clausen

Clam or Blainertt are not the answer holy crap. Darcell is the the guy... carolina needs to figure out what we have with the QBs we have... which I think is a decent group with the right staff and o -line.. now who is the right qb t o me is Moore, Pike, Clausen..:)

Let me also clarify that I hate Jimmy Clausen with the power of a thousand suns and want him no where near our football team. But I don't think Cam is the answer.

Andrew Luck is not the only decent QB that will be available in next year's draft. There's also Matt Barkley, nick foles, and i think the kid from Oklahoma can come out next year, though I'm not sure on that.

Truth is, all those guys have a shot at being better prospects next year than Cam Newton does this year.

Like I said, these are all just my opinion, but I can't get behind Cam Newton as the pick. I just don't see him doing anything in the pros.

I'm all about talking Panthers football, mostly QBs.

I'm not saying you'll always be a horrible poster and I'm sure you have great ideas, just don't force people to read all of your posts.

Keep them shorter and they will get read more. Don't capitalize random words throughout your sentences.

You should also know that right now isn't the best time to talk football but if you stick around it'll get better. With the draft everyone is choosing sides and not much real discussion is going on.

You got off on the wrong foot, no harm done.

(See guys, I can be nice sometimes)

Such a kindhearted soul

Landry Jones will be eligible too. Funny, all three could stay in school (they won't, but they could). I think Clausen will spend time at #3 next season, maybe a trade for a third rounder or some sideline tarps, but it is too soon to make a call. Moore would be a great backup. I think We have have veteran in mind for this season. Makes no sense to draft a QB who has O chance to play.

IMO opinion Luck is the only prospect above the group this year. I don't see how Barkley and Jones are any different or less risk than some of the QB's in this years draft.... And right now foles isn;t even a first round or top prospect.

Wait. You haven't researched anyone in next years class, but you are SURE that they know that no one in next years class is as good of a prospect as Cam Newton?

Next years QB class stands to be infinitely more deep than this years. Way to make retarded blanket statements.

"More Deep"??? Deep refers to # of good prospects.... This year is considered a very deep draft class and will more than likely have more QB's drafted in the first rounds than any other recent draft.

the number of first round QBs being drafted this year has as much to do with the uncertain labor situation and the tons of teams that need QBs than it does with the draft itself IMHO.

that being said, it is a deep class in some respects, but it's pretty weak at the top. or at least, I think it is

-The team wants to start winning NOW and not wait a few years down the line for it to happen..............

If we stay at #1 we are probably going to take Dareus. He is the safest pick, we need help on the D-Line, he is hard working, smart, and would help us instantly. Our schedule next year is going to be brutal, we need all the help we can get. When our QB's suck again next year and we are again picking in the top 5, we will take a much better QB prospect than the ones this draft has to offer.....

You clearly state in your original post you think Cam will suck in the NFL. You and other should leave it at that as to why the Panthers should pass.

I just dont get the other, this mindset to pass because "the team wants to start winning NOW and not wait a few years......"

Do people really thing the Panthers would be say 4-12 if they pick Cam vs 8-8 or 9-7 etc if they pick Dareus or somebody else???? I hate to say it but I think the Panthers record next year will be what it is going to be pretty much despite who they pick at #1 this Thrs.

I think if Hurney, Rivera, and Co. think Cam will be a franchise QB they will pick him hands down.
