For the record Meat, I disagree with you on the "sue the NFL" issue. Based on what these guys know of labor law (and similar questions asked of my brother, who works in a law office) neither Peppers nor any other disgruntled franchise player would have much of a shot challenging this thing in the courts. I understand your reasoning, but every indication that I've seen is that legally and practically, it'd be a waste of time.

Now as to how some of the responses have been, let's be clear.

MEAT IS NOT A TROLL!!!

He is a longtime member of this and other boards and a Panther fan in good standing. He isn't a labor lawyer and doesn't claim to be one, but he knows more about the inner workings of the Panthers organization than anyone else on here, and that much at least should be respected.

Seriously, come on guys :sosp:

That tells me all I need to know. Ban me so I don't unintentionally expose myself to this idiocy again.

I personally know most of the players. What are your credentials, jackass? You are a legal expert, an expert on the team's inner workings, blah blah blah blah.

Or you're just another message board idiot. All hat, no cattle.

Actually, I have worked extensively with corporate level employment, and as part of my responsibilities I had to understand employment law. And what you keep crying about is fundimentally based in employment law, not organizational workings. What the Panthers are doing falls within those boundaries. Maybe before calling people names, you would do a little research before making yourself look like a moron.

So, what, do you think knowing most of the Panthers (if that's even true) gives you any credibility? Sorry, but your arguements have soundly disproved that idea. You do not have even a basic understanding what this is about. You keep pushing an idea that is unreasonable and will never happen. And no matter what anyone says, you refuse to accept it. You can throw as many insults as you want, but it doesn't change the fact that your arguement is without merit.

Oh, and don't think you are the only one who knows Panther players...or coaches/administrators.

On this topic he is clearly trolling. He has no interest in discussing, just whining and bitching and disregarding any and all factual information provided (not opinion, mind you, but factual). And the idea that he has more knowledge about the inner working of the Panthers than anyone here is ludicrous. His knowledge is not even average. Also, it doesn't take an employment lawyer to understand the basic concept of the CBA...especially when it was explained to him many, many times. Heck, just a simple internet search would clear things up.

What it comes down to is that he is either clueless and has a limited ability to learn, or he is just trying to stir things up (and not in the silly, fun way some here do). And since I can't believe he is that clueless, it must be the latter...which is the definition of a troll.

Who's trolling and who's not? If you hadn't been pushing the envelope the other way, I'd say half of his responses would never have happened. He obviously has some personal interest in this. Do you? I have none either way, but it's clear to me that Peppers is stuck, fair or not, (who cares) and it's due to his own agent's doing. Let it go, man, let it go... :D

Stop the madness...

You think Woodie is trolling? I don't get it. Just like I don't get this whole damn thread. Mr. Scot with one T says Meat is a Panther fan in good standing but all I see is a guy who bases at least some of his self worth on "knowing" some players and has taken every opportunity to slam Panther fans he knows and doesn't know.

The impetus of my message was that Woodie keeps responding. That makes Meat keep responding. That's what I was after here. Wasn't calling anyone a troll, they've just got into a pissing contest and frankly I'm tired of it. Thought others might be too, but maybe not...

I guess I must be out of it. I thought responding to peoples posts was kind of what a message board was all about. And if you weren't calling Woodie a troll I apologize but if you re-read your quote maybe you can see why it sounds like you were implying that he was.

Meat got a conversation started, don't have a problem with that or with anyone having their own opinion. What ticks me off is when he throws out general slams aimed at Panther fans while (apparently) professing to be a fan himself. I'd have a lot more respect if he came out and said he was a Steeler fan or a Peppers fan.

It might help people to remember Meat if he wasn't continually changing identities

Meat does indeed know players and he knows the ins-and-outs of the Panthers organization from the inside. He does not, however, know labor law.

Woodie and Sandy clearly know labor law. They do not know the inner workings of the Panthers or know any of the players personally.

For the purpose of this discussion, knowledge of labor law is more valuable. For that reason, I'd have to give the edge in the debate to Woodie and Sandy.

With that said, I see no reason to denigrate Meat's status as a Panther fan or his knowledge of what the team's inner workings are like. Most of us wish we knew as much about the behind the scenes stuff as he does, and I'm always happy when he shares that insight. He certainly doesn't have to.

As Mintal said, the parties here have gotten themselves into a pissing contest (fairly common thing to have happen when guys debate). For my part, I'd just like to see both sides rachet it down, agree to disagree, sing kum-bah-ya or whatever. You disagree on an issue. No reason to make it personal.

Come on now. Is this question really worth getting angry over?

I said repeatedly in this thread that I didn't think he would win if he sued the NFL. I said he had a case. He has a case because it is not a fair system. It's fair to the fans and owners, but not fair to the player. That's all I said. We were talking about his options. Then Matlock and Co. jumped all over me and said I hate the Panthers. I happen to like Julius Peppers. He was a class act every time I ever dealt with him, unlike some other superstars I have dealt with. I am not a Panthers fan, but I don't hate them, either. I have some friends on that team and many friends in the organization, and I happen to think the world of Mr. Richardson.
