I think several players (the elite) clearly hinting that Carolina needs to go in a direction away from Clausen is a solid arguement. But that is just me....it isn't just one player hinting at it. Only thing left is for people to do is flat out say he is garbage.

- Beason said he'd draft Newton when asked who he'd take, but then clarified that he has confidence in Moore and Clausen and said the draft is "a roll of the dice".

- Williams said the team should either "make the conscious effort to go out and find a quarterback or mold a quarterback they already have into a championship caliber quarterback." Interpreting that as "draft Newton or I'm gone" is dumb. The second part even allows for Clausen to be the guy.

- Davis said he'd draft Newton. Gross, on the other hand, has come out and defended Clausen, saying that last year can't be laid on his shoulders.

So explain to me again how "several elite players" are saying we must go in another direction.

Regardless, what players say in the offseason doesn't mean jack. They're players, not personnel people. I expect Marty Hurney to ask Thomas Davis who he should draft about as much as I expect Davis to ask Hurney where to best lineup for a weakside blitz.

I mean, really your arguement is that b/c they don't literally write out Clausen sucks, there remarks and comments can still be left up to interpretation. If it was one person I would agree with that......but all the top talent is all implying the same thing.....MOVE ON.

as far as Gross......he is being exactly who he has proven to be. A LT. He has always protected QBs. Means nothing more than just that.

Clausen doesn't have to be the plan but by no means does that mean draft a rookie.
