If you want Dwill to stay....

The box will be more stacked since Cam can't make most of the NFL throws required at this time and they will force him to beat them with his arm, which he won't be able to do.

That is questionable logic.

Jimmy posed ZERO threat throwing downfield. He wouldn't do it nor would he use the middle of the field (b/c of his low motion). It was all checkdowns and sideline throws.

All Cam would have to do is show he is willing to go downfield.....and the box would be stacked less. The fact he is mobile would aid him in letting guys get open downfield and him time to see it.

from what we saw, it looks like The Golden Calf of Bristol could of. Easy to argue he looked overall better than Bradford or Colt as a rookie. Arguement is there to be made.

Not really. The Golden Calf of Bristol sat the basically the entire year. Spectators also fail to see when he did good not only was their absolutely no pressure but they ran really simply plays for him. Teebow still didn't start away and he isn't starting this year either for good reason. I do have a feeling he might come in mid season if things go south. If Cam were to come in I wouldn't mind him finishing off a couple games but I would think he needs to sit for at least a year. When I say 'start' I mean starter material. In which case proof lies in actually starting.

NOBODY is okay with staying put with our current QB depth chart. NOBODY.

We have said repeatedly we want to bring in another guy with a bit of experience to compete for the role. There are a ton of guys who look good out there and could potentially be a good fit. We have to do this whether we draft Newton or not because... do you really want to go into a season with only 1 guy who has decent experience under center?? Meeeh.

Not sure if you know this or not but I've been saying how I want McNabb to do for Cam what he did for Vick in Philly so we agree there. Problem is I don't see that happening or us signing a solid vet to be honest with you. Which is why I think Moore will be resigned an play that vet role. Where we disagree is that I feel like there is a QB in this draft who is talented w/ a very high ceiling who I think should be groomed toward the future an that's Cam.

Looks like too many of y'all have been watching Fox News.

The smallest quote you can take out of context to further your agenda is always the best, right?

Yeah...cuz only Fox does that...

Keep that poo out of here. You want to post it? go to the tinderbox.

I actually want *2* vets, Clausen, Pike. Let's say McNabb, which I don't mind, if we can get him for cheap.

McNabb, Moore, Clausen, Pike battle it out for 3 spots. IT is possible the depth chart would then be Mcnabb -> Moore -> Clausen next year. Even if McNabb isn't who you want, there are a ton of other vets you can get that would be instant competitors in camp and improve the team IMO

and yeah, there's nothing wrong with saying that you think Cam Newton is talented and is worth it. I just disagree, but if the Panthers don't, I do hope they take him. But it is a stretch to say that DWill was asking for Cam Newton based on what he said in that quote. Nothing indicates that is the case, that's all.

I just get annoyed when people say we want to go with the same depth chart. >.< ugg.

So we're allowed to post endless threads about Cam Newton, but we're not allowed to make a comment on the manner in which people are going about doing so?

Here's an idea: If your vagina has enough sand in it, how about you head on over there and make a big stink about it? There's nothing to debate because it's true. I never said other companies were innocent either. I made a tongue-in-cheek comment, and you're more than welcome to take my Cam-in-mouth if it really bothers you that bad <3

What, are you going to call me a racist next because I would prefer Dareus over Newton as #1?

you're smarter than making predictions and stating them as fact. Aren't you?

My point was keep that crap out of here. Looks like your pearl is ready.

LOL Well, it's certainly clear he won't be happy with Clausen.

Later in the article...

"It's basically going to boil down to who has the better quarterback, or who's making the conscious effort to go out and find a quarterback or mold a quarterback they already have into a championship caliber quarterback."

Williams clearly is not saying "get a new quarterback or I'm gone".

It's not about a "stop gap" it's about making the offense the best you can for now while you find that quarterback that fits what you want to do, and not reaching for one that you aren't sure of. Obviously if the Panthers are sure they'll draft the guy, but if not, I hope they don't.

It's no surprise these guys want someone other than Clausen under center. Who does want Clausen under center??

What ton of guys look good out there?

Gradkowski is a WCO guy and hurts himself lacing his cleats up.

Volek is an old never-was. Regurgitated here and there because of spot duty years ago.

McNabb isn't even technically a FA. He's aging fast and has looked BAD outside of Reid's system.

Palmer isn't technically a FA, would cost a bunch to get, would have to restructure his contract. Hasn't looked even decent in a while.

Orton. Not a FA. Denver hasn't shown any sign at all that they're cutting him.

Kolb. Not a FA. Have to overpay to get him (provided the Eagles let him go). Decent probability of being a system QB.

Alex Smith. lol.

Matt Moore. I mean, we could hand the keys to Moore with Clausen as backup, I can't see what could go wrong there, it's damn near bulletproof.

This is a message board, it's all opinion.

My opinion, based on watching him play and analyzing his game, is that he will not able to make the throws necessary to win in the NFL right now.

He sure could develop into that, but by that time it is my opinion that Smitty and DWill will no longer be viable threats so their opinion is largely irrelevant, in my opinion.

It is also my opinion that players never say anything smart.

It is also my opinion that I don't remember Smitty saying he wanted a drafted QB. It is my opinion that he liked Moore. It is my opinion that he just wasn't happy with Clausen. It is my opinion that Beason is not a good judge of what is best for this team based on the fact he suggested we sign VY.
