DT vs QB - Bust Rate

If it's man you want your two outside guys running post routes and your RB running the wheel against a linebacker up the sideline, you just have to avoid the rush because it should be a blitz if they are in man. If they are in some kind of man 2 deep you might be in trouble and should look for an underneath crossing route coming from the opposite side you are running the wheel route on into the vacated area in the flat.

No. You're trying to say that Cam Newton and Andrew Luck are on the same level as a prospect and that's 100% false.

Cam is considered a project, other players are not. It's pretty simple man.

I could see both of them being two of the better young QB's in the NFL right there with Freeman/Ryan to name a few. Making bold predictions is just that a prediction I could say Luck has a disappointing Locker 2010 like season next year who the hell knows.

Everyone knows... that's who M. TRD has PROOF!

LOL, you guys spend too much time playing madden. Go get some fresh air.

Toilets cleaned already? I also don't play video games.

That wasn't the question.

Do you or do you not see them in a different class of prospect?

We're not talking about how their careers might or might not unfold but in terms of how they are rated as prospects, do you see them the same?

Personally you know how I feel based on what I posted above I see him AND Luck being very good pros. The media, you etc think Cam is a raw project who will bust like Russell unlike Luck who was said to be the prospect since Manning all opinions. I watched both in college and formed my own conclusion I could give to f**ks about what the media/scouts say. That's why I continue to respectfully disagree with your opinion about Newton

I'm not talking about the pros.

I'm asking you in terms of what kind of prospects they are.

If you think all prospects are on the same level that's just wrong.

Even across different years, players drafted at #1 aren't the same prospects. Manning was a better prospect than Sam Bradford. It's just the way it is.

If you feel Cam and Luck need the same amount of work/tweakign to be successful in the NFL you are only kidding yourself.

Sorry NC Biscuit not the type of bust you are looking for.

Good article....didn't want it to be lost in the other thread.

I can't say that I've really wanted to see a QB or DT bust in that sense, but thanks anyway.

Good thread, I would not have guessed those percentages... see how that works guys? A relevant pre-draft thread...

Just like people said Clausen was "pro-ready" amiright?

Some people said that, yes.

Some people also thought he wasn't the same prospect as Bradford.

Some people didn't expect him to have this clusterfug of a season around him.

And some people should realize that the NFCS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NFCW...just say'n (adding to your debate) :)

Point is, as Millions put it...

WHO THE HELL KNOWS?

No one can say with 100% certainty how "Pro-Ready" a player is until they suit up and take the field as an NFL player. It's all guesses until that point.

Newton could come out, for whatever team drafts him, on day one, and go crazy, throwing for 300 yards and 4TDs, and running another 50 and a TD.

Or, he could come out and throw 4 picks and run around like a scared little girl like Clausen did, no matter what preparation he had in college.

But to sit there and say "He's a project!!!111" is just stupid. You don't know that... you can't know that... you can't see the fugin future. You can GUESS.... but your guess means no more than anyone elses.

But you will only deal in absolutes and generalizations... so... conversations about draft prospects with you are just a waste of time.

What you fail to realize is that not every prospect has the same probability of success or failure. There are certain things that make one prospect more likely for success and others more likely for failure.

You are so emotionally attached to Cam that you cannot even face reality when talking about him.

Sure, he could overcome those factors and be the best player ever and Luck could underwhelm and be a huge bust when all is said and done but going INTO the league, they are ranked differently and have different chances for success.

Luck is not seen as a project and Cam is.

See... that's where you are wrong.

I'm emotionally attached to the Panthers not SUCKING another year. Newton is simply a step towards that direction. If he doesn't come to the Panthers, then he's nothing I'm concerned about anymore (though I will keep track of his progress to see how badly we missed the mark).

If Luck had declared, and he blew us away at the combine, in his media day, in his interviews, and on the QB camp... he'd be in my sig and who I was buzzing about.

If Gabbert was clearly a better choice, I'd be signing his praises. (which if you can watch his games and see he isn't).

I'd say its more likely that YOU are emotionally invested in the hate on Cam than I am in him becoming a Panther.

    • I mean that’s not an argument I go with… But in ACC play, both Clemson and SMU covered the spread more than Miami.  Miami didn’t cover in 3 games.
