Is Cam Newton a star in the making or a scrub?

Star imo he could be like a LeBron from a star standpoint he's the only guy in this draft that I could see going to a small market team and making them relevant..

It all depends on how the person you draft turns out. look what peyton manning did for the colts. they were nothing before him.

drew brees in NO

philip rivers in SD

doesn't matter where your team is, if your QB is good, you will get exposure.

Yes.

one thing is for sure, Hurney's ass is on the line right now. if he fugs this up, his ass is hitting the streets.

Maybe, but I'm not entirely sold on that.

I could see Hurney staying and the college scouting department getting "reorganized".

I could see the entire FO get "reorganized" if he fails to produce winners. Yeah the coach has to coach the guys into studs, but the GM has to find the right guys for the job, and he has been doing a less than stellar job of that over the last few years. me thinks blowing this first overall pick when you have your choice of anyone in the draft could mean his job.

With Mark Richardson out and team president Danny Morrison being primarily (as I understand it) focused on the business side of things, Marty Hurney is for all intents and purposes the god of football operations in Charlotte.

If this season is a failure, he'll be the man mostly responsible. Of course, "the man mostly responsible" and "the man who takes the fall" often aren't the same guy.

I don't blame him for none of them picks. Tim downfall was injuries he was very talented. Anybody remebers the Redskin game where he could have went for 200 yards in the 1st half?

Then you can't blame Polian for Kerry. Kerry hurt Kerry he would be near HOFamer if he could have kept himself out of trouble and off the bottle when he was younger.

Both player were good picks you can't predict how injuries and maturity will happen.

I don't really see that. We really don't know what the scouts say to the management, we only see what decisions the management makes. Unless you are suggesting that management passes off any poor decisions on the scouts?

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
