QB's to go after in FA

Palmer is done in my book. He had more weapon last year then alot of other QB and did nothing.

Mcnabb only looks good in Andy Reid system. History has shown that QBs from Reid's system have a low success rate in other systems. Plus he wants to go where a team is close too a superbowl.

I pick either Bulger or Volek.

Palmer, tho not a FA

Volek, same

Bulger

Haven't seen a list, but those are off the top of my head.

Those are the guys in the list that would be familiar with our system or some version of it.

You know me. I cross all the West Coast guys off immediately.

I'd add David Garrard as a trade option that'd be worth a look.

Seems like they won't want let him go even if they draft a new QB. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll demand a trade, be reunited with his new coach.

Gradkowski because i like the Jeff Garcia comparisons.

There's one that you won't :(

Garcia sucked big time when he played in anything other than a West Coast Offense.

Truthfully, that's true of the vast majority of WCO guys.

(I honestly can't name one that made a successful transition to another system)

None of those options are appealing

McNabb is proven mediocrity at this stage in his career. If he couldn't even play well in Shanahan's WCO, he'll be a disaster in Chudzinski's Air Coryell.

Palmer will get you 3500 yards but most often doesn't take you to the playoffs and when he does, he can't win.

Bulger is finished and so is Pennington. Bulger especially is 5 years removed (by the start of the '11 season) from a respectable regular season performance.

Hasselbeck is a WCO guy and Volek why do people still bring him up

Not a Bulger fan; heard some very negative stuff about his attitude during a MNF broadcast last year in the preseason. Basically, they said he didn't seem to have the attitude of a guy who wanted to play anymore.

Honestly, the guy I really wanted was Alex Smith. He'd be the perfect stop-gap until Newton is ready. I like Palmer as an option as well, but not if we have to give up anything higher than a 4th/5th rounder to get him.

Smith could be interesting.

It could be argued that he's more suited to WCO (I think his draft profile said that) but his best some of his work came in the season where he was coached by Norv Turner. And anyone who's been paying attention knows that our offensive staff has a pretty heavy Turner shadow.

I'm still iffy on the idea, but I could probably be talked into it.

Based on the situation with the CBA and lockout, I still believe the best option for the team would be Derek Anderson. Anderson is the only QB in the entire NFL that played for Chud while Chud was a NFL OC. If nothing else, it's the easiest transition in a shortened offseason. Even if they were to trade for McNabb or Palmer or Gerrad having Anderson would be worth it just becuase of his time in Cleveland.

I'm not saying this is a long or short term solution. This is a quick solution to a major problem stemming from the combination of a shortened offseason and a new coaching staff.

Completing 62% of your passes for almost 4000 yards and 26 TDs with 20 Int is nothing?

He did this with the 6th worst rushing attack. Yeah, he fuging sucks

One time he threw one pass and got injured.

The other time he played one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The way you guys talk, you'd hate to have Rivers and Payton.

26td and 20int's top five pick in this year draft yeah he was on fire.
