Jerry Rice: Accuracy, not race, the issue with Cam Newton

So you're saying AJ Green is going to be another Steve Smith?

What crystal ball are you looking into to tell you that?

What if AJ busts? Wide Receivers bust all the time.

What if... anyone we drafts busts?!?!?!

the draft is a risk no matter who you take. I like AJ Green more than Cam Newton. (Still would prefer to go for a DT or CB as IMO those are much bigger needs)

Yes, he had the least severe shoulder injury you could possibly have for a QB and often times after the surgery your arm heals stronger than before

true, but he can also do something to compensate for the injury and end up tearing something else. like throwing different or putting to much emphasize on a certain part of his delivery.

and the way the nfl is looking you are going to wait for a cba to be done before obtaining a QB. and which one is worth bringing in to you? please dont say Kolb or Palmer.

and the way the NFL is looking Newton will have to wait for a cba before being signed and beginning to work with us.

either way we have to wait on our QB. Drafting one doesn't give the team a leg up. Hell, with such a transition, it might put us behind.

As to names, I've listed them before, but I'd bring Gradkowski, one of the Smiths, Bolger, Volek, McNabb, Hasselbeck, and a couple others, depending on what that player wanted and how they fit our offense. I'd bring that FA along with Moore, Clausen, Pike into camp, and keep the best 3.

You could, I agree.

It's about the response I expected from you though.

Instead of bragging about yourself there, Al Bundy, how about you actually back up a single statement you've made. Hell back up anything you've ever wasted the huddles bandwidth posting.

I'm willing to give you two the same deal that I gave others

I'll post my resume with proof if you post yours with proof. If you are under qualified to talk football with me, the Zod will perma ban you. If you are more qualified than me, Zod can perma ban me.

If you refuse my offer, you are admitting you are underqualified and should stop using this as an excuse when I make a better point than you.

Any takers?

LOL, you're the worst troll on this forum dude.

Here, let me fill out your resume for you;

EXPERIENCE

Self proclaimed Football demigod.

National Football League, Canton, Ohio, 2008 – Present.

- Accurately predicted and foresaw every great player in the NFL since I've started watching them on TiVo.

- Kept a single couch near 98 degrees F. for several years.

- Can analyze a pass and explain it better than anyone who covers sports or watches sports.

- Can tell you what the average running speed of a DT is in the NFL anytime, without looking up any sort of facts.

You seriously need to get over yourself.

Well he didn't start throwing until he was fully healed so I don't think that would happen.

Usually that happens when an injury isn't healed and you make up for it in other ways.

Gotta call it like I see it I find it funny y'all act like you haven't seen racially motivated comments being made about Cam on here or in the media this offseason.

So answer this, for the sake of us all...

Racism exists. Agreed. So does the practice of playing the race card. I find both to be odious. When, rather than actually address facts and idea, people instead try to invalidate someone's comments by just screaming "racist", it's both cowardly and intellectually lazy.

So with that in mind, how exactly do you tell which comments are "racially motivated"?

- Can't be just having a negative opinion of Newton because that can be had objectively without race being a factor

- Can't be questioning his transition to the pros because he played in a simplified offense so those concerns are valid (same with Gabbert)

- Can't be questions about his character because he has a legitimate record of questionable actions

- Can't just be statements about his personality because those kind of things are said about plenty of white quarterbacks too (Mallett, for example)

So knowing it can't be any of those things, tell me how to determine what comments about Newton are racist. Give me an objective way to do that.

Oh, and don't go with "non-racist but influenced by racism" or "subtle racism" because those are just stupid. It's just another way of saying "racist" while trying to absolve yourself from blame for it.

Tell me how to spot a racist comment.

After all, you can do that, right?

I'm blown back by this counter argument you made. It really amazes me.

I'm blown back we're only a high priced WR away from being competitive again. AJ Green is the difference between 2 and 10 wins. With the three headed monster of Clausen/"Make Love To Pressure" Moore/Pike we'll be a top the NFC South again next season. Brilliant strategy Catsgrowl.

I've backed it up. I can't make you see things, all I can do is my best to explain them.

I'd really like to explain it to you if you want to hear it, so please let me know what is confusing to you or what you don't get about my posts.

The #1 overall sucks! He's not a pocket passer! He doesnt look like Peyton! Luck is better!

You guys still suck at telling us who we should draft and how they will help us win. All you know is "I DONT WANT NEWTON", "I DONT WANT NEWTON". But it has nothing to do with his race. We are so exotic here in Pantherland, we're known for being so diverse. :ihih:

I dont want a QB in the first round. I would rather trade down but if we dont Im hoping Peterson or Darues is the pick. Cam or another rookie will not help the team this year. We can pick up a Veteran when free agency finally starts and start winning right away.

And I'll restate this for the 10 millionth time.... we're not even a year removed from the worst QB play in franchise history... QB is our BIGGEST NEED.

Here is my standard: People saying this is a weak QB class are Full of $(%&(. You cannot evaluate or put a grade on a draft class until years down the road!!!! Using Luck not being in the draft as a reason this class is weak has no basis on anything factual. The draft is 50/50 at best. That includes DT and especially WR's.
