I thought Luck's freshman season was amazing since he was a freshman. He wasn't asked to carry the load due to Gerhart getting a lot of carries. He only threw 4 picks that season so people claiming his td-int ratio is bad are crazy.

 Y'all act like he's not the favorite to go number 1 of course he's going to be highly talked about yet you rather b1tch in every single thread which gets annoying as well. Post like that makes me question if he'll be supported by the 'haters' though we will see.

He is the favorite to go number one.

So were Tim Couch, David Carr and JaMarcus Russell at one point.

It doesn't really prove anything.

The main point I read here is, next year's QB class will be better than this one

Wow, I'm pretty sure thats obvious to anyone with a brain...

This year - two top 10-15 passers (Big board style ratings)

Next year - unless someone bombs (3 top 10 QB's)

Point is, theres no point in waiting on Luck or anyone else because Newton has just as much upside as ANYONE in next years draft. Yes even LUCK... You don't know whats going to happen this season or where carolina will draft in the 2012 draft.

None of which show things he'll need to do in the NFL

Never said it did or didn't, just simply stating that they had two years of tape on him. Newton's biggest issue in his Transition to the NFL is going to be Footwork and timing on drop backs. I think he gets those down, with in the first year...

What did Cam do his freshman year?

He didn't play, however both QB's have two seasons of tape..... Regardless of style of offense or who Cam was playing, he was lights out both seasons...

Luck on the other hand with a great oline and a good running game and a skilled group on offense had one subpar season and a great one...

Umm, not really... One he actually threw the ball more per game as a fresh then he did as a Sophmore...only reason the stats look bad is he couldn't hit any targets....

55 % completion on 288 throws for 13 td's - 4 picks and a rating of 143 with the talent he had on that oline and Gerhart running the ball = bad, even for a freshman. He threw 288 times his freshman season over a total of 9 games. Which puts him around 32 passes per game..

Sophmore season he had 372 passes in 13 games - which is around 29 passes per game.

I have a question. I know Gerhart was pretty much all they lost last year, and he went in the second round. Everyone says Luck is losing everything around him so what are there offensive players projected to go this year?

Yeah cause you know for a fact he'll bust like those QB's you mentioned

He's the favorite to go number 1 because he has the talent and an higher ceiling than most of the other prospects in this class imo. You don't think that I respect that but don't b1tch at us because we see something in him that you don't. I'll never call you out on questioning his footwork or the offense he comes from like I said he's NOT the finished product.

nevermind, I found it. Highest projected is 1 guy in the 5th, and 1 guy in the 6th. It doesn't seem like he had the talent around him that everybody makes it out to be.

Having 6 offensive players leave that have the ability to get drafted and another 4 or 5 graduating is a lot. Regardless of where they get drafted at, the fact that one is the Center and the other is the LT (one of the Guards is also graduating) ... Thats big, especially when the Center is as good as Chase Beeler is. Also Owen Marecic is a big loss for Stanford as well.

Do you know for a fact that he won't?

(again, it's opinion)

Wow I am glad after 11 pages people finally realized the purpose of this thread. It is as simple as some people wanted Luck over Newton and some want Newton over Luck.

Only difference is it seems that they ones who like Newton do not share the same rights as those who like Luck. They already know the ceiling and bust potential between Newton and Luck yet neither has played a down in the NFL.

All you ever see is people hating on Cam Newton and the people who support him trying to defend themselves. I tried to flip it so for once the haters would have to put up a defense as to why luck is the better pick that is all. For some reason people did not understand that I was talking in the terms of Newton not existing in this draft class and Luck replacing him with the same overall big board. Which would mean that there is group of better prospects at different positions other than quarterback. I went on to say that Everything with the Panthers and the NFL exists as it does this very minute. Meaning there is no CBA, Our biggest needs are QB and DT, Rivera is our head coach, Clausen is still on the team etc. Why that was so hard to understand I do not know and I apologize for the confusion.

No this thread was not meant to be about race or anything like that. It just came down to the fact that Luck and Newton seemed to be the most wanted QB prospects that could of been in the 2011 draft. Only problem is Newton is in this draft and Luck is not which I think many people are upset about.

If I need to continue to elaborate more let me know and I will do so.

Sorry. the "theory" is flawed.

Nobody is "hating on" Newton. They just don't think he's the best pick. And given that the majority of those on the board do want Newton, how do you figure they have "less right" or "have to defend themselves"? The silliness about hate and racism isn't coming from the anti-Newton crowd.

You said "what if it was Luck, but he wasn't the BPA" and people stayed consistent. Those who believe you take a QB even if he's not the BPA said so. Those who believe you take the BPA over a QB also said so.

Don't see how that proves much of anything. All it does is illustrate different philosophies about drafting.
