Jeff Otah?

I don't trust him honestly, we should draft an OT early IMO. Otah has motivation to stay in shape and we need depth anyway.

As hard as it is to do, I think if there is some way we can find a developmental T with LT abilities later, that would be ideal. There are several who could play the right side early, develop into LT when Gross is done.

Willie Smith, ECU (Smith was a DT before moving to the offense. Has good feet, but no experience in a pro style offense; underrated with high upside, consistency was a problem. I think he will be drafted earlier than people think)

Eric Mensik, OU (Former TE who is transitioning to OT-solid starter for Oklahoma, but probably a PS player until he improves-needs to gain 15-20 pounds)

Derek Newton, Ark St. (Good size and athleticism, but supposedly too passive to run block effectively. Needs more aggression)

James Brewer IU (After Roger Saffold last year, Indiana is producing some decent lineman of late. Brewer may be a RT only, but has decent size, feet, and long arms (nearly 36")

It wouldn't surprise me if Otah was never the same. I hope I am wrong. With the type of offense we run, you have to put his replacement high on the list. I would put it higher than DT. Our defense did not cost us games last year - our O Line did. Our O Line is not the same without Otah. We couldn't get any holes last year. If this continues, we are in for another long year. This is right behind QB as far as importance.

James Lee is a RT in Tampa right now who's a free agent who took over for Trueblood and did well at it, but Tampa isn't committed to him yet. Would be worth looking in to.

An injury to Jeremy Trueblood last season gave James Lee his first chance at extended playing time in the NFL, and he held up well, showing the potential to develop into a solid right tackle in his nine starts. The Buccaneers like Lee but they’re not ready to commit to him as the starter at right tackle just yet, Pro Football Weekly is told.

With Trueblood due to become a free agent this offseason, we hear the Bucs want to add depth at tackle and would like to bring in competition for Lee, who’s entering his fourth NFL season. Tampa Bay reportedly extended a tender offer to Trueblood before the work stoppage, so the team has interest in bringing him back.
