Against all options, Newton makes most sense for Carolina

"speculation"

Surely a quote from Hurney or JR saying "we will draft Luck" should be easy to find right?

How about a quote saying we'll draft Newton?

None exists. But the Panthers organization deliberately leaked we'd take Luck so that he KNEW he'd go #1, because news organizations at the time were saying JR wouldn't pay a QB at #1 so we wouldn't take Luck.

About as easy to find as one that says we were taking Newton.

Explain to me again why Jerry Richardson called Luck to discuss his decision if we were just going to take Newton anyway?

(guessing you're trolling; but allowing for the fact that maybe you really are this stupid) :nonod:

I never said Jimmy did good, I just think your looking with clouded glasses if you think Newton will come in and do a better job than Jimmy.

Didn't saint pierre come in and throw more touchdowns than jimmy in one game all season? anyone can come in and do better than jimmy with marginal talent.

Somebody is gonna take him... would'nt we look awfully silly if he did pan out to be great? Not often that we are in this position, and frankly, I dont wanna be in this position again. That would mean having to endure another season like that which gives me nightmares. You have to take a gamble at some point, we dont have many options.

About as silly as we'll look if we take him number one and he's a total bust.

Difference being that besides us looking silly, it also means we blew the number one pick in the draft.

Only if our guy wasn't great and we don't successfully address the QB spot. The same can be said of ANY player we were to draft, though.

What happens if Newton busts and Gabbert, Peterson, Dareus, Fairley or Green end up looking like HOFers?? Would we look awfully silly for passing on them?

I agree we need a franchise QB.

Problem is I don't think any of the guys available in the draft are franchise QBs.

The thing is Rivera only haves a 4 year deal and by the third year he needs to have a Quarterback. if he dont then back to a defense coordinator you go. But been honest this is serious especially with jobs on the line. I rather lose my job trying to get someone i think that could help the team then not worrying about the issue or playing it safe. The fact that matter is we gotta do something at the position and we gotta believe they can help us win. Whoever it maybe.

Thank you. JR and Hurney NEVER came out and said we were drafting Luck, they said "we want to address QB in the draft". Funny how thats morphed into "we're definitely taking Luck without seeing a combine or interview process because he's Manning 2.0".

How ironic!! That sound like the same thing on you thinking we will get Newton.

Surely a quote from Hurney or JR saying "we will draft Luck" should be easy to find right?

And I suppose you have something that prove your so-call truth that we will get Newton when no one in the office said so? I wonder if it easy to find the link that Hurney, Rivera, & JR want Newton for real. :smilielol5:

Also, there were more proof they wanted Luck than Newton. 100% truth. You only believe we're getting your boytoy Newton because they're interviewing him, giving him a private workout, etc. Guess what? They're doing the same with Green, Gabbert (unless he already met with them), Peterson, etc. Guess that mean we're getting them as well by your so-call logic of getting Newton. :wily_nily:

That's not an argument for taking Newton.

If he's not the best available guy, we shouldn't take him. The QB position can be addressed other ways.
