Against all options, Newton makes most sense for Carolina

If Luck was clearly better than Newton as so many would love to believe, surely he could've gotten 1 award over him? He came up short each and every time. Oh I forgot, college means nothing for NFL success. The college voters were biased against Luck. It was all a conspiracy. Nothing with Andrew Luck is "proven" despite what some here may think, we dont even know if Luck "could" dominate college football the way Cam did this past season. Lets let him do that first before we start saying he's better than a Cam or a Bradford or a Stafford.

Show a positive correlation on how collegiate awards or a BCS championship determine NFL success for quarterbacks. There needs to be a general trend, at least above 50% if you are going to use it as hard proof.

Your thoughts are incomprehensible, it's disturbing.

I'm starting to realize this... its eerily similar to trying to introduce my grandfather to a cell phone many many years ago and to watch him stare at it in disgust saying "we didnt need these in the old days"... well guess what... times are a changin around here, better get used to it before you fall down and start desperately wishing you had that fancy new cell phone old timer.

...

You're talking to a wall man.

The folks like Mr. Scot would rather we bring in a bench warmer, and have sub-.500 records for however many years, until we somehow bring in the next Peyton Manning or stumble across the next Tom Brady.

Yet again with the most ignorant argument on board :nonod:

Nobody here wants to lose. We just disagree about the best way to win.

When you guys suggest that we want to lose, you sound really stupid.

Fixed

Seriously, if you believe that Cam wants to play for us for any reason other than the fact that we have the #1 pick, then you are daft.

And how did that work out for Luck? Also maybe it's because he'll be close to home, and he realize it beats playing in Buffalo, Denver, and Cincy.

Winning attracts attention.

And yes, although some don't believe it, we can win even without Cam Newton.

I totally agree. That's why I think we should take either Dareus or Peterson, but drafting someone like Cam does draw more attention from the start, as opposed to taking the whole season to build up the momentum to get in the spotlight.

(Especially with Carolina being such a small media market.)

That's why I can see why JR and company would take a long look at Cam, because he is just so damn polarizing.

No he does not. This is a passing league, and Cam does not have the accuracy to even scratch the surface of Manning/Brady potential.

See... when people start spouting off crap like this... there's no more sensible discussion.

There's no factual basis for these comments... only what some jerk off said about him one day.

2010 Auburn Tigers:

Attempts - 185, Completions - 280, Completion % - 66.1

2009 Blinn College:

Attempts - 336 Completions - 204, Completion % - 61%

He actually had BETTER stats in Division 1 college, against the SEC.

Not accurate.... /facepalm

That could also be because the talent around him was more superior. The coaching staff was far more superior. The training staff was far more superior... You get the idea.

To be fair, saying Cam can take the reigns from Manning or Brady doesn't really help with the sensible discussion either.

What makes you believe Garrard is going to be available? Palmer is probably more likely, but Cincy can keep him if they are determined to do so.

There is a very, very good chance neither of these guys will be on the market.

And if we leave the draft without a QB, then all I can say is bring the vaseline when you go visit Jacksonville or Cincy to talk trade.

There's reports that Jacksonville's ready to move on from Garrard.

Mike Brown is fighting Palmer, but Marvin Lewis wants to let him go. If they get a new quarterback, it might get a little easier (happened once before with Esaiason).

Some of Garrard's best work came when Shula was his QB coach. And Palmer's been coached by Ken Zampese, con of Ernie, mentor of Norv Turner, the guy who every single coach on our offensive staff is connected to.

No, we may not get the chance at them, but again I'll take a stopgap QB over throwing a rookie to the wolves without any reservation.

You know what sounds stupid?

Bringing in a bench warmer to be our starter. To suggest we fugin Jake Delhomme this organization AGAIN. Stupid. P-E-R-I-O-D.

Delhomme was a bench warmer. Had the most amazing receiver this organization ever saw, which catapulted him into success. Once people figured out it was Smith, and not Delhomme, what happened? Years of .500 or below records.

And that proves your argument that Newton is a franchise QB...how, exactly?
