Against all options, Newton makes most sense for Carolina

... he had 90 receptions and like 1100 yards.

Back on topic, nobody is saying "Man, if only they had taken Rivers!", because their pick is working out just fine, even still. They may need a QB now but that is not the same as looking silly and their fans lamenting their pick.

My entire point was that what our pick does means as much as what Newton does, and likely more.

It DOESNT MATTER if they aren't lamenting the pick. Point is, THEY STILL ARE NOT COMPETITIVE every year. They are lamenting the fact they dont have a franchise QB to get the ball to their all world receiver every year. So what good has that pick been in hindsight? They are still wearing the same shoes they were before him! yes, yes, yes, I know they were in the superbowl but so were we when our journeyman QB flipped a switch too.

Gantt firmly believes we did go after Harbaugh until we found out what he wanted.

On the other hand, there were HUGE reports all over that two Panthers officials said we would not pass on Luck and we would not trade the pick and we would draft him.

It's funny how you believe those reports, but discredit the HUGE reports all over that the Panthers will draft Newton.

No, thats just a flat out retarded pick. Dont think i could continue watching if we had a safety (its a possibility) under contract for 60 mil in 3 years. That would be the worst decision this franchise has ever made, and yes, I am including AE.

You wouldn't pick a Darrelle Revis or a Nnamdi Asomugha with the #1 pick?

If Peterson's as good as they say, that's what he could be.

Don't be ridiculous :frown2:

I'm not happy with mediocrity anymore than anyone else is. I just don't see the 'path to greatness' the same as you do.

The idea that anyone on here is happy with the team being lousy is just ignorant.

Just as ignorant as fans predicting and hoping we suck it up this year so we'll be in the running for Luck next year, and who's to say this guy won't pull a Locker.

Luckily there's a wage scale coming.

Did you know Bradford isn't even being paid in the top 10 highest paid QBs in the league in 3 years?

We dont know about the wage scale yet, we could be playing under last years rules for all we know and that would mean a bigger contract than Bradford... gettin blown outta the water by the new guy ;)

Not when your offense can only score 10ppg and you D is on the field more than 3/4s of the game.

The main reason being that our guys actually have come on the air to publicly dispute those reports, but haven't done the same about the rumors we'll take him.

Again, we're allowed to go after quarterbacks via other methods.

My preference would be trade. Best options being Carson Palmer or David Garrard.

The free agent class if not as good. Only stopgaps, but I'd rather have that than a rookie getting thrown to the wolves.

No, I wouldnt. Absolutely not. Now that would be a completely dif answer if our QB situation was stabilized. But if that was the case, we probably wouldnt be picking #1, hence the reason no corner has ever been drafter #1. Drafting someone like that would be a luxury that we cannot currently afford.

My god, that is just a terrible argument. Then we are in the same exact position in 2 or 3 years. At some point Mr. Scot, you have to face reality.
