QB Camp: Gabbert

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Is it me or was this throwing segment more complicated than the others? Maybe I just am not remembering the others well.

No I think you're right.

By all accounts of people who have played with him, practiced with him, etc... He takes control of a huddle. There's a story from a bit ago about the receiver he threw to on his pro day, who knew for like 4 days before his Pro day.

BTW, for Blackcatgrowl:

Gruden: "Footwork is excellent..."

I'll take your word on that. The program didn't show it, but obviously the program isn't a "real world" situation.

He was voted a captain on a squad that had an unwritten rule that you don't get to be a captain until senior. This may not mean much to people around here, but that's a huge thing for a Mizzou guy.

If they take him at number one, I'll get behind it. Probably wouldn't if it were my choice, though.

Later first round? Yeah. Number one? Eeeeehhh...

Most of Gabberts faults can only be seen in real game action. Such as the Clausen like panic when under pressure.

The difference is Gabbert still pushes the ball vertically even when he abandons the pocket. He wasn't particularly known for checkdowns. He did make some bad decisions when he left the pocket, though.

If he is picked by us, I wouldn't want him anywhere near the starting spot for his first year.

If nerves are an issue at all, starting too early could be a disaster.

I wouldn't want us starting any rookie we drafted in his first year but hey...

I just don't understand where people love Newton and hate Gabbert... I mean you can tell Gabbert is so much more advanced in terms of football knowledge.

But he didn't play in the SEfugingC so he must suck...

Knowledge>Production?

So you want a guy who can produce in an extremely unconventional college system who may not even be able to read and understand the playbook over a guy who has shown the knowledge to play on an NFL level....

Tell me....where are Timmy Chang and Colt Brennan now....nobody produced more then those two kids....
