Bought my Taco 4x4 new in 2000, 180k miles later it has never needed repair. Have gone through 4 sets of tires.

Manual everything... transmission, windows, seats, etc. bare bones, the only way to go. Only thing upgraded is the stereo.

I have a 2001 X-cab for my get around truck / light hunting vehicle. Yes, getting 2 car seats in the back are a pain. It hauls the Jet Skis trailer very well except I gotta be moderate up longer grades. Otherwise, mileage and reliability are top notch.

I got a 2006 Double Cab Taco Pre-Runner new 5 years ago and have had literally 0 problems with it...and that thing has seen some action.

Best mid-size truck you can get in my opinion. And even better than some full size (won't mention names)

I had a Toyota Tacoma once...LOVED it! Wish I had it back.
