Two things are for sure, he isn't playing for the Panthers again AND Pepp's agent will start talking to interested teams about a long term deal. The Panthers will negotiate with teams where an acceptable long-term contract is possible.

If the AFC doesn't work out, don't the Eagles have two first round picks?

So what exactly are the timing scenarios? We have to get under the cap by the 27th. But even with the franchise tag on Pep, we're still under the cap currently, right?

I wonder how long it'll take to get a trade. For all parties involved in this, the sooner, the better.

depends on what exactly gross makes this season. Lets say it's six million. that's 23 million between the two players. right now counting the roster bonus to Gamble were around 6 million over the cap.

The deadline to be under the cap is Feb. 27th but teams that are not under the cap by then are given a one week time limit to get there without penalty. Why they don't just say two weeks is beyond me but whatever.

Now that Gross is signed and Pep is tagged I wouldn't be surprised if they tell Pep to take a back seat for a couple of days and they will start working on extending Delhomme. That will allow them to save the most cap room out of all other options including cutting players like Lucas.
