Mediation over...till mid-May

Mr. Scot

LOL merge mine with yours. I think this is great, lets get a ruling, get the appeals over with and end this once and for all.

Look mediation was bull poo both ways, neither is going to budge till the courts make them. the NFL is going to win this thing in the end and they know it. The appeals courts don't give a poo about employees vs employers like this judge did that represented folks against 'The Man' her entire legal career. They care about law and its on the Owners side.

The NFL won huge today with the report players are pulling away from the NFLPA*. We all knew this would happen, the have not's vastly out number the 'Have's' and they are going to toss those rich players aside and get a season done so they can get paid.

I hope she rules tomorrow so we can move on

Every time I get my hopes up about a deal getting done, or at least getting closer to a deal, something like this happens.

There isn't ever going to be a 'deal' done. The owners have had enough with the current system and will lock this bitch up for 2 years if they have to in order to set the system right.

Employees do not have the right to tell employers what they should get paid period. The NFL made them a last ditch offer that was damn good in many peoples opinion, but the NFLPA never had the intention of settling, they wanted court. And for those saying they are partners, well they don't pay 1/2 the Bills and they draw a paycheck from someone so they are employees.

I don't care if the NFL makes 25 billion per year, so what? If you want a bigger piece then you assume the risks and become an owner. and 45% of 8 Billion is 3.6 Billion. Divide that by 32 teams = 137,500,000 per team / 53 men on the roster = about 2.6 million per player. if you can't live on that, tough poo. I say offer up 45% of total revenue and be done with it.

They already have the money in place for this year, the TV money will be released for next year (the 4 billion tied up).

I don't think you understand how resolute the owners are in this. And as for as being a business major, do you take a shitty deal that will save the business for a couple years but sink it completely in the future or do you make the hard choices right now and secure the business for a long term future?

Jerry Jones did an interview where he said the owners are the stewards of the game, not the players. The owners will be here long after all the current players in the NFL are gone. it is their responsibility not to cave in to what the current players want and make sure the game will continue to succeed in the future.

So yes I do believe they are willing to do that. Will it come to that? No. The players are already splitting and I can see in the near future the majority force current executive committee out including D smith, them telling Manning, Brady, Brees to get fuged, and negotiating out a deal that the top end players, rookies and Agents will scream and cry about, but will allow the game to go on and the majority of the player to play ball.

Ok so she rules to end the lockout, then what? Can teams sign free agents, can they make trades?

Yes...for as long as it takes the losing side to get their appeal filed with the Appeals court :D

Fans need to understand, this isn't ending soon. The players wanted to go to court and that is what we are going to do. The earliest I see anything done is August. 60 days minimum from the date the losing side files an appeal.

When you take into account we will need no less than 4 weeks camp, at least 2 preseason games, we will end up losing about 1/4 of the season possibly and NO free agent movement as there will not be any time.

The only thing that speeds this up is a ton of players pull away and I mean about 1500 of the 1800 active players and they negotiate a new contract.
