1 week out from draft, a fearless prediction

Honestly, It would'nt suprise me at this point if Hurney traded down, he could find someone to swap pick's with. Highlandfire your right about JR not giving a rookie at ANY position that kind of money until they have proven they are worth it.

There are a bunch of Solid DT's in FA. We drafted 3 WR last year. AE was drafted as a WR not a QB. There are no legit answers at QB in FA so that leaves us with the draft.

While that may be true...we can't even sign our own free agents until CBA is done. This season might be a write off. The only thing we CAN do right now is trade picks. It's the only leverage we have.

Carolina and Denver both trade out of their spots.

Will it be earth shattering trades? No, it will be less than in previous years due to the CBA, but both will trade out.

No way in hell Hurney stays at #1, not with Luck returning to school and its also in his DNA so to speak to trade. I can't see JR signing off on Newton either esp with no rookie cap in place and there is no one else in this draft worth guaranteeing 50 million or Quarterback money to.

I agree with this. I don't think he wants to piss his boss off. JR publicly states he is not enthralled with Cam Newton.. and Hurney completely disregards his boss and drafts him anyway... I just can't see it.

I don't think they make a move based on Andrew Luck only but rather if it looks like we are going to have a season or not. The more this drags out, the more I feel like there will not be one. The GM's are very in tune with how the talks are going and if the owners think there will not be a season, then the draft strategy will change.

well, I think football is played.......it just likely will be a bs season.

but let's assume they don't play. Why does the draft stategy change? Carolina still is in the best position to make a move at top QB talent now vs. later. They could never get a chance to draft someone they remotely like next season. They can this year.

But a rookie draft pick CRA?

Richardson has consistantly brought in FAs on the downside of careers and overpaid them.

Richardson has consistantly overpaid Panthers on the downside of careers.

Richardson had no problem paying big money to a player like Julius Peppers at #2.....and he has always had the same question marks. Richardson had no problem renting him for 1 mill a game when he knew he didn't want to even be here.

So why is Jerry afraid to spend now? I want an explanation w/o mentioning him prepping for post Fox and forcing youth on a field?

Why did'nt he keep Hoover then?

wasn't about $. If you keep Hoover then Fox would have never given Tony reps. Richardson/Hurney weren't gonna give Fox and avenues to play the vet......it was basically a youth audition for the new era (new coaches).

Jerry has alway spent.

Jerry made a planned calculated move 1 year.

Jerry will spend again.
