Mayock expects “feeding frenzy” for quarterbacks

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Doesn't make it right.

I don't think Carolina takes a QB because I do not think they are desperate

We slowly became the worst team in the NFL purely b/c of the QB position slowly getting worse and worse.

I don't think we are desperate......I just think the fix is painfully obvious. Team needs QB talent and has none.

Trade discussions go on constantly between GMs behind the scenes and are not made public. Top ten picks are extremely hard to trade because of the $ figure involved, as well as, the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart that teams feel compelled to adhere to. The additional problem this year is complicated by the fact that you cannot trade a player after you pick them. In past drafts, the Panther's could have drafted Cam and then traded him to say Cincy if "their" player (say Gabbert) was still there. Not this year.

We have some and we aren't and shouldn't be desperate enough to reach for a project QB considering the talent we have elsewhere

Talent? You talking about the ones leaving because we don't have a QB or the ones we don't have signed or maybe the ones coming off injury?

Just wait. The Patriots are going to make out like bandits with that first pick in Round 2. I don't think there's going to be movement for Newton or Gabbert, unless one of them falls out of the top ten.

Once the first round ends, there will be 24 hours for the Patriots to work the phones and milk the best offer from some team that wants to move up and take the best available quarterback left after day one. It is going to make that trade last year even more painful.

The Mayock love here is amazing.

Mayock is arguably the best of the TV draft analysts. I'd take him over Kiper, and easily over McShay.

Other guys worth paying attention to (but not on television)...

- Gil Brandt (NFL.com)

- Nolan Nawrocki (Pro Football Weekly)

- Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning news)

- Vic Carucci (NFL.com)

- Rob Rang (CBS Sports)

- Don Banks (SI)

I agree he is good, but people here act like he preaches the gospel.

He has had his fair share of misses as well,as has everyone else.

Everyone does, but Mayock's right more than he's wrong (ditto the other guys).

I forgot Don Banks. I'll add him.

I'll be the first to admit he's my favorite when it comes to anything football related.

is he always right? hell no.. but why is that even a question when comparing everyone else? ;)

ah, I see.. well, when compared to everyone in the ESPN world, he does preach the gospel. lol
