Figuring out Jake Locker

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

You know those guys who should be better than they are, but just aren't?

He's had solid pro-style coaching and seems to have soaked it up well. He loves the game. He's a good athlete. Has the physical tools he needs. His teammates like him. there's every reason to believe he could be the best quarterback in the draft.

But nobody believes he is (including me).

It's almost puzzling that he's not better than he is. You gotta think it's something between his ears, but what? hard to say.

He seems like one of those guys that 5 years from now people will wonder why he was nt picked first overall. Kinda like Rodgers...he will be the most successful QB...but more than likely bc he will probably get a better situation/team like Rodgers. Imagine if he goes to the colts or pats and is able to learn behind those guys.

I feel his completion % scares people away the most.

If he would have thrown over 60%, he would probably be the top QB as many projected over a year ago. He's just never improved his accuracy enough to prove he can excel in the NFL.

The whole "your helmet's covering your eyes Jake" is kinda funny, I admit.

I watched a WVU quarterback (Darren Studstill, I think) walk around with his chinstrap vertical over his face after a big hit. It was clear he had no clue where he was, everyone but the coach who didn't take him out of the game. Next play...fumble

Locker will be a bust. Rodgers showed WAY more in college then Locker. Locker never put his team on his shoulders and lead them to victory. He always wilted under pressure. He lacks something between the ears to be a qb. He shoulda been a safety.

My highly unscietific opinion, he doesn't look like a QB at all. There's a muscle bound, clunky-ness to him. If you worry about a running QB not adapting into as an NFL pocket passer, I'd start with him.

He is a valid example.

His own coach complained about him returning to his default tendency.
