QB Camp: Newton

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I agree that during his interview he sounds sort of bad but I imagine if we recorded ourselves being interviewed for a job we wouldn't sound to good either. You have to remember that Cam is a young guy and being scrutinized insanely close. he is bound to stutter or screw up an analogy every now and then.

Nice!

I love that despite his ego problem, inability to read plays, inevitable Auburn pay-to-play baggage, and relatively awful pro-day (compared to the likes of Bradford and Stafford), you guys can still hold your noses and defend this guy as the #1 pick.

Rivera being here makes me feel a lot more at ease with a lot of these high-risk guys as well.

Teeray: Normally I enjoy your banter, but let's be reasonable for a moment. You have now claimed that because Peyton Manning waved off the punt team during his 7th season in the NFL (after already being a x4 Pro Bowler, x2 AFC PotY, AP NFL MVP, and on his way that season to another Pro Bowl, AFC Player of the Year, and AP NFL MVP award each), that it was okay for Cam Newton during his first season as the starter for Auburn during the National Championship game to not listen to his coach during the final moments of the entire season and his college career?

Can we extend that gag order until May 28th?

So Peyton Manning never called his own play or audibled out of a play when he was the starting QB at Tennessee? I mean if we are REALLY going to be accurate that's what we're talking about here.

Because Cam hasn't played a down in the NFL so we don't know what he would do in a simlar situations with NFL coaches and playing along side NFL vets.

The more I see of Cam, the more I convinced he will not be the #1 pick. If we go QB, we go Gabbert, hands down imo. Unfortunately, we will probably go with Green/Dareus/Peterson though.

All signs point to the fact that you're wrong. Just because you don't want him doesn't mean he's not going to be the pick. At this point it would be a MAJOR upset if anyone but Cam was our pick.

You must not have been around when this board was lit up with Andrew Luck posts and everyone had him in their sigs and it would have been unthinkable that he would not end up in Carolina.

Then came the shock and awe and crying.

Cam is the favorite... but since in almost no other draft he would even be considered as the #1 pick I don't think an "upset" would be too surprising.

Can you quantify that statement?? How do you know that in any other draft he wouldn't be considered as #1 pick?? Do you have a crystal ball?? Pretty bold statement considering 6 teams had Newton #1 on the board overall (not just QBs) at the start the draft process.

I know that all the signs point to Cam Newton. But none of those signs are coming from the Panthers front office.. no one knows what the panthers FO is thinking, it's all speculation. All of you who claim to have inside sources.. well, you are wrong. Not even our local beat writers (who actually have inside sources) are being told the truth at this time of year. They are simply guinea pigs.

Counter proposal. Pics, imbed, and gifs all count. No text. And loser gets week ban, not permanent.

Whatcha think?? Starting at midnight tonight.

LOL people thinking a kid trying to win the national championship was weak.

QBs can't call audibles anymore

What was it then?? He saw an opening in the d-line and tried to exploit that to ice the NC game. Most QBs would do that.

If his coach didn't mind why should we??

He wasn't playing for an NFL coach. Chizik said he was fine with it. So why do we care?

I like the new guy!!!!!

So we should care even though his coach doesn't. A fact he reiterated either yesterday or today??

NFL coaches care so much he is the front runner to be the #1 overall pick

You are like a small buddha covered in hair

So you are saying you wouldn't pay Peyton Manning who waived off the punt team??

On his college team yeah!!

At Auburn... sure.

Brings me back to my original point. It doesn't matter what I think. Chizik didn't mind and actually defended the play. So why should I care??

What were Chizik's orders?? Can you confirm that he didn't tell him "if you see something you like go ahead and score."?

*I realize this pic is obnoxious but I have to have a pic.

MAV you just asked me the post above if I cared.

The story was created by the media. The speculated because they were in victory formation. They are probably right. But we don't know that for sure.

You care if a Heisman Trophy winner does it on his college team but not when Peyton Manning does it??

:)

The most important thing is that their coaches didn't care. Neither did Chizik. So if he did it a Auburn and Chizik didn't care, and Peyton did it and Dungy didn't care, then perhaps we shouldn't care.

So true.

  :ciappa: :smilielol5:

Capable yes but not allowed to bc of a bet.

You are losing the bet

This might have been discussed already, but I'm not reading so many pages and didn't want to start another Cam thread. I was listening to Peter King on 610am this morning. He was saying that the play that Cam was supposed to draw up for Gruden wasn't the play that he drew on the board.

I didn't play football and don't know how to read what he drew...can anyone clarify this? He was pretty adament on this being a huge flaw for Cam.
