Gruden vs King

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

how anyone can think that King's critique of Gruden has anything to do with Newton is beyond me... I'm just not understanding the reasoning here.

Now, obviously Gruden's QB camp is why these comments came out, but specifically Cam Newton? I just don't see it. They came about because one of his former quarterbacks apparently didn't really like the way he was developed so he weighed in on him. He did not do so because he heard Gruden said Newton would go #1 overall.

The press asking the questions also asked questions about Locker, Gabbert, Mallett, receivers, corner backs, Ponder... just about everything. The question was not asked because Gruden predicted the Panthers taking Newton #1.

I just don't see how these two things are tied together.

Grudens says Panthers should pick Newton, Gruden says Cam should go #1 and is best Qb in the draft

next morning headlines "Gruden doesnt know poo about QB's"

maybe its just a coincidence:rolleyes:

I don't think the disagreement between those two is about the article itself. It is about Scot's trollability (new word) and using this article to try and undermine Gruden's opinion on Cam.

Not saying I think either are right. That is just what the argument is.

I am pretty sure they're saying this thread was made with the intentions to counter the positive reports surrounding Cam/Gruden that have been posted the past few days...

I don't really agree... because if anything, King's actual quote supports that Newton fumbling with words meant nothing because Gruden's QB camp means nothing.

The point isn't that Mr. Scot is trying to post things to discredit a Newton advocate, it's that one of Gruden's former players comments about him were pushed into the national spotlight because he thought the QB camp was pointless. He didn't say Gruden's opinion was pointless or that he didn't know what he was talking about, just that he couldn't develop young QBs.

Just because he can't develop them (which imo is arguable anyway) doesn't mean he can't evaluate them...

The specific line, "Panthers will take Newton #1" line came from the same interview that spawned this story. I do not think the national media is out to discredit Gruden... they just wanted a scoop and they caught him off guard, haha

My questions are who gives a poo about Shaun King here and why is this even posted like its some news concerning the panthers? mr scot cant even tell us the relevance of his post. must be trollin

Some of us find it interesting when someone who is widely considered an offensive guru gets blasted by a former player. If nothing else, it's kind of funny. My first thought when I read the article on PFT wasn't "AH-HAH! HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CAM NEWTON!" it was "lol didn't need King to tell me he had trouble developing most young guys, but oh well"

If this is the case then ncmonzta's point was made, "What does it have to do with the Panthers"?? Shouldn't it be in the NFL football central message board instead??

Again, here's a fairly simple inquiry guys. Go back to the original post for the answer.

Did I say that this damages Gruden's credibility, or did I post the question?

Also again, you don't know what my opinion on the topic is yet. What does it do to your arguments if my opinion isn't what you think it is?

If we were in season, it would have been. Offseason rules are a little more loose.

I posted it here because I thought it was an interesting topic and the NFL Forum doesn't really see much action.

It had absolutely nothing to do with Newton at all until some of our more paranoid nimrods came riding in on their horses to defend his supposedly besmirched honor :frown2:

Sort of like when Fox News says "Some critics say..." It is a method MSNBC or Fox uses all the time to undermine credibility or provide a counterpoint to a point that is counter to their own mission without saying so yourself. That way they can say "I didn't say that I simply posed the question.." Yet at the same time it is so transparent it is laughable.

You guys get all bitchity when something that can be remotely connected to Cam in a negative way is posted.

Chill out

Seriously. Like knights riding in to protect their damsel in distress

"OMG! SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING THAT MIGHT REMOTELY KINDA SORTA BE PERCEIVED AS A NEGATIVE ABOUT CAM IF YOU SPIN IT AROUND IN YOUR HEAD A BUNCHA DIFFERENT WAYS AND MAKE SILLY CONNECTIONS THAT AREN'T REALLY THERE! TO ARMS! TO ARMS!!!"
