Gabbert has great memory..

I love being labled a Cam Hater/Hugger, or a Gabbert Hater/Hugger every time I say something positive or negative about a player.

Let me not be a hater or hugger of either when I say that neither should be the 1st pick in the NFL draft.

Cam has red flags, as well as Gabbert. Each are different, but none the less there.

Sucks that we are probably going to pick one of them.

Pretty much this.

But I'm over having read thread after thread of Newton haters pump this dude up, when there are serious issues with him.

Gabbert is the The Golden Calf of Bristol of this draft. Not Newton.

Why do you keep bringing up Newton?? Chill out!!!

The hell are you talking about?? You're crazy, The Golden Calf of Bristol plays nothing like Gabbert, how the heck can he be the "The Golden Calf of Bristol of this draft"?

Gabbert isn't perfect. His footwork coming out from under center isn't perfect. But it's pretty good for someone who basically only gets to take snaps from under center in practice and the offseason. He's got accuracy questions on his deep ball, he's got pocket awareness questions, he's got transition questions. But he's extremely intelligent, a very cerebral player. He's got the physical tools - his arm is more than strong enough to make all the throws, he's tall, he's mobile. Is that enough? Hell no. He'll have to execute at a higher level in the pros than he did in college, as will all these college guys. Not a single one of them is content with their college game. Not a goddamn one of them. They are all working, practicing, training, every day. It might not always be obvious, but it's what they're doing.

Nobody is saying Gabbert doesn't have issues.. of course he does, or he'd be the consensus #1 as of months ago, but he's got 'em (if any of these QBs were issue free..). However, *I* feel they are all things that, with coaching and study, will be put behind him. I think he can be a great quarterback in this league in the right situation.

By the way, stop with the whole "hater" bullpoo. If you disagree with us, that's fine. Just learn to live with it. The rest of us have. You know how many find, positive discussions we have when you're not around? It's because the VAST majority of people who like Newton or who dislike Newton recognize that he has both positives and negatives.

So stupid that every thread turns into a "WELL CAM NEWTON IS BETTER" lately. Guess I'm not surprised.

EDIT: Where the hell are people in Newton threads going "GABBERT, GABBERT, GABBERT"? Other than Verge? 'Cause seriously, occasionally someone is like "I'd rather have Gabbert or a defensive player" but rarely is there anyone going "NEWTON?!!?! LOL BAH GABBERT IS THE BOMB DIGGITY!"

...or lol, do you think our worship of his hair actually means we want to draft him?

Yeah, The Golden Calf of Bristol was actually better at playing in a spread.

The rest of what you're saying is either completely made up, or "ROBBLE ROBBLE, NON-CAM ISN'T ANTI-CAM" nonsense.

I totally want Gabbert because I envy his hair. He and Brady go to the same barber shop, so that must rub off on Gabbert, right?

I state some of Gabbert's positives and then the Cam huggers get butt hurt. It's beyond ridiculous. In their minds, Cam is superior to Blaine in every way, shape, form. Pull off your blinders, and be realistic. Go read some actual scouting reports.

gabbert is not going to be the pick. i bet my life on this. come on people

That's how I feel about Cam. There is no way we pick him if JR has anything to do with it. And believe me, he will. Do you think that Hurney will go against his boss? Would you do something against your boss' judgement? Hurney will need JR to sign off on this pick.

I'll say this again, for the millionth time.

I do not want a quarterback at #1. I think Gabbert can succeed, but that's just personal preference. I think Cam Newton can too. IF we do go QB I prefer Gabbert. If it's Newton, I'll get behind him, support him, and be excited to see what he can do. I personally would rather we pass on both. I recognize Gabbert has flaws. I recognize Cam Newton has flaws. I like aspects of both guys games.

For what it's worth, I was keeping this Gabbert related until someone brought up Cam.

But you wanna talk about nut huggers? fuging "scouting reports" are some of the worst gabbert-nuthuggers around, and for no good reason other than some establishment BS.

#11 looked terrible in a number of games last year, against college defenses that weren't top rated.

And when I say terrible, I don't mean he had a few off balanced throws. I mean he looked fuging awful. Bad enough he cost his team some wins.

Add to that, all the bullshit about spread offenses applies, EXACTLY to Gabbert...

So saying he deserves #1 pick consideration is just over the top ignorant to me.

Hmm. I think I see the problem.

Gabbert certainly did make some bad throws. He made some really good ones, too. He lost some games... and won some games. But... in general, scouting reports usually try to report on an NFL skill set. Gabbert is widely believed to have a "good" if not "great" set of skills as they apply to the NFL game. That does not mean he should go #1.. but I do like him more than any of the other QBs.

He certainly has similar issues as far as the offense he came from as other prospects have now and in the past. But not all spreads are created equal, and some prepare prospects differently than others because they ask different things of the quarterback running it.

Maybe that's the issue. He was miscast in a spread offense and would fit better in a pro-style. I think that is where the #1 pick thing is coming from.

He played in a pro style in high school. He wanted to play in one in college but due to a coaching change at Nebraska he renegged on a commitment to them and went to Mizzou, if memory serves. In the offseason, he worked on taking snaps from under center.
