Gabbert has great memory..

I think the blurb regarding it being scheduled for late last week was in PFW.

The article posted on site (see here) seems to be taken from a direct interview rather than quotes culled from an outside source. That as much as anything else makes me think he's been here already.

On Gabbert's twitter, he states on April 18th "Back to the airport, in the home stretch". So I think you may be right.

Yep! He can't do anything. He's clearly not even worth a 5th rounder. What a terrible player. All of these scouts and analysts must be completely wrong. He will no doubt be the worst QB to come out of this draft!!!

I mean come on, I wasn't even endorsing us to draft him buddy ;)

Here's the thing...

All the trash talk about Newton from a football perspective... like:

1. He played in a spread

2. He had bad footwork

3. He has accuracy issues

ALL THAT... applies to Gabbert. Except, it's ALL true.

Did you watch the video of Gruden comparing Gabbert's footwork to Manning's? He looked like a 5 year old kid almost tripping on himself.

Now take all that and look at his bad play in live games... there a SO many football red-flags for Gabbert, it's silly. And yet, SOME people still think he has better draft stock than Newton.

At least in Newton's case, he has made strides to prove it all wrong, and pretty much has (except the fact he did play in a spread O).

Why are you arguing this point against me? I'm projecting we're gonna take Newton

I guess you really want to prove a point...

Mike Mayock said, "Gabbert's footwork is better than Matt Ryan's coming out of college". I can guarantee that Newton is nowhere near that as far as footwork in a pro-style offense. The only accuracy issues I have heard about regarding Gabbert was on long throws, which is 10% of NFL passes on any given game.

Go watch Gruden's QB camp with Gabbert... then tell me Mayock isn't blowing smoke.

Difference is that in the offense Gabbert ran, he made multiple reads before and after the snap.

Cam was told which WR to look for...if he was not wide open, he took off running.

Stizell, the guy who helped groom Matt Ryan & Josh Freeman I find to be a decent source:

His awareness and presence are definitely concerns, I do not dispute that, but footwork? no way

Gruden was comparing his footwork to Manning's. You could throw half of the current starting NFL QBs in that scenario to make them look like sh*t

We're not trying to pump him up better than Cam, just trying to figure the guy out. So chill out bro ;)

did you even WATCH the clip?? He was concerned about Gabbert's explosiveness compared to arguably the best quarterback in the game. He wasn't saying "your footwork is horrible!" he was saying, "You've shown you can take snaps under center, now I want to see you use your explosive athleticism in the way I know you can, 'cause look at what Manning can do when getting away from center."

This has been proven false so many times... Newton was not a one-read QB. You can't be and have the numbers he did.

More likely Gus used the progression read, giving Cam the typical suite of “reads”: one, two, three, throw-it-away/run.
