have you considered getting a memory foam to throw on top of your existing mattress? better than new for a fraction of the cost.

You can usually drive around and see some on the side of the road...check out Davidson County...you could probably find some there.

you would think, but I find mine works really well to keep the bed warm in winter and cooler in summer.
