SuperDuper Mergicized Panthers finalizing deal with Gross Thread

I think the FO has done a decent job in all honesty. They've been working on a Peppers contract for like 2 years or so. Peppers brings in more money from fans then Gross does (Jersey sales), and I'm sure they wanted to get Peppers locked down before figuring out what to give Gross for that reason.

In the last month, they've had to hire new coaches, deal with Peppers, and sign Gross.

If you guys consider this horrible, what would you call the "Letting them both walk" scenario?

It's front loaded 'cause not to long from now we'll have to try to re-sign Williams,Stewart,Otah etc.... good move! Lets get what we can for Peppers and move on to free agency and the draft!

That is a lot of money up front, but it shows how much we need to get a deal done with him.

It was a horrible job by the FO for lettings two of our stars contracts expire at the same time. They should have gotten Gross signed last offseason.

If Pep had signed the mega deal they offered him last off season this wouldn't be the case today.

For those who said that we should have signed Gross to the big deal last offseason....do you guys remember that he was wanting Left Tackle money although he had not been dominant at that position prior to 2008? It would have been absurd to offer him that type of money, considering that we all thought our draft was going to yield a starting left tackle.
