#2 is a lame number for a QB. Jimmy and Matt Ryan wear it, therefore it is lame.

Is there a QB who is any good that wears 9? I'd like for him to pick a number he can "make famous" so to speak. The way we associate 7 with Vick, 18 with Manning, 12 with Brady, etc.

This one's a no brainer, Clausen would keep it. What quicker way to alienate yourself from your teammates than to make them think you're a prima donna and think you're better than them because you're the #1 overall than to take a guy's jersey number as a rookie. A less high profile pick could get away with it, cuz it'd just be a business transaction: incoming player has an affinity for a number and is willing to pay for it, and the vet agrees. In this situation it would obviously look like Cam would be intimidating Jimmy to give up the number, even if both parties said otherwise. I don't think that would go over well. I don't think Cam would be dumb enough to try it, anyway. He would pick another number. He knows his PR and how to make people like him, he knows better than to come in appearing arrogant and entitled.
