Riley: Don't count out Moore

Can't handle pressure?

He had to come in and play while he was a rookie.

He had to step in, and play towards the end of a season, going against top competition, and still played well.

Pretty sure it has already been proven he can handle pressure.

I got to assume at this point, people are saying he can't handle pressure due to how he played at the beginning of last season. Where he put undo pressure upon himself. It wasn't the pressure from the game...but pressure on himself, to try to carry a team when he shouldn't have had to.

I used to feel that because he played top competition that checked all the sportswriters saying he never played in games that mattered. But in the end he caved under the pressure of being #1. He played too horribly for me to support him any more than just giving him a shot.

#1: I am better than you in every aspect of life and don't ever forget it.

#2: Read #1 again.

#3: Read it one more time

#4: With Moore playing, Smith was on pace for roughly 80 catches and over 1200 yards. You wouldn't call that finding him a lot? When was the last time he had 1200 yards?

#5: So basically you think Moore "Consistently" showed that he was a terrible QB yet this is the only year that it actually came out in his performance? Do you have any evidence that he lacks the understanding for throwing to a spot? What others? Not sure how often he misses open receivers with a pretty good completion percentage and YPA most of the time. Unless again you are only talking about this year as proof of "consistent mistakes"

#6: Read #3

You're struggling now, man. The TRD of months ago would've brought something better than that. 1-3, 6 are classic 13 year old/Not-Awesomeness answers. Just do better.

Pretty good completion percentage? 49% in the preseason when he was supposed to be lighting it up. 4.9 ypa was better than John Parker Wilson and Mike Kafka. Congrats. 21% of passes went for first downs. No one who threw enough passes to qualify did any worse. I won't touch the atrocious QB rating because you'll throw that out...just like you will the above numbers.

Now let's move onto the NYG game and get you set to give me some excuses.

14-33, 182 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT. How many of those INTs were his fault, TRD? Give me your "unbiased" opinion. Did you watch that game? Did you watch the preseason? How can you seriously say it was all due to injuries or unexplained circumstances that have no chance of repeating themselves?

This is TRD's world you can't go off using fact too make your point.

I don't think "Moore Clausen Pike" is what Rivera is going to do. However, you seem to think you only bring 3 QBs to camp. I expect us to bring 4.

To the other bits..

1) They are coming off of injuries. One was a former starter, and if nothing else, a great backup. The other is an untested late round rookie that might be done.

2) We have no idea if they fit the scheme. Frankly, if what he ran in CLE is any indication, Clausen has the capability to run this offense if he has the capability to run any offense. I'm not sure why people think he can't. But Moore is better suited for it. I don't know that Pike can run anything.

3) We're not going to have a "fearsome trio," unless we bring in someone like Palmer.

I don't think he brings in just 3. I also think he brings in 4. 1 will be Cam and one will be a legit vet.....then it comes down to Moore/Clausen.

1 - non of the 3 from last year should be considered "former starters".

2 - there is plenty of games/info to suggest Pike nor Clausen fit a downfield passing attack imo.

A lot of Moore's picks were not his fault. The Bears game in particular comes to mind.

Moore didn't play much in the Bears game....the Bears QB was throwing all the picks and Clausen was doing his 3 and out magic.

Moore came in the game in the 4th qtr.

your're right, I forgot. AE knocked up a pass and then I think he made one of those endzone throws that a QB has to make in that scenario despite the high odds of getting picked. I had no issue his play in that game....I had forgetten after I was amazed the D did all that and Clausen couldn't get anything done.

So you are taking his time in the preseason and his second half against the Giants and saying that determines his "consistent" play but ignoring everything he's done prior.

You are trying to prove that one variable change accounted for this season when in reality there were 10 variables that changed and could have accounted for this season.

Then you try and pass off roughly 2 games (preseason and 2nd half of Giants) as evidence that Moore "consistently" does these bad things even though they didn't show up before.

Come harder next time.

Speaking of consistency, how about practicing what you preach, man. Clausen consistently sucked because he had a bad first-ever start against CIN, a solid game at NO and crap vs CHI? Moore somehow is able to defecate the bed all preseason, show no improvement or good decision-making and he gets a pass? It's one thing to prove me wrong, it's another to downplay one group of facts, talk about how the entire preseason/camp is akin to one game and then tell me to come harder. Bring some real ammunition, not Hart HS pep rally-worthy blind optimism about Moore.
