You might want to check if Pete Decker will handle it, he's the big name here in Va Beach/ Norfolk area. He is now a sit-in judge for both cities so he has lots of clout... I will find out if there is anybody that knows somebody better closer to Richmond...

You don't need a really special lawyer. VA does break balls for reckless driving, but they usually drop the charges for reckless driving if you agree to take some kind of safe driving course. Even a noviced lawyer can do that.

I got a speeding ticket up there a couple years ago and never took care of it. It doesn't go on my NC record, and I have no plans on visiting that hell hole again.

Did the same thing in South Carolina in high school and had a suspended license for 6 years there.

Captroop has a point JR.. As an experienced veteran of VA's traffic court system I highly recommend having your wife take one of them driver improvement courses before going to court, it will look real good for her. And if the issued court date does not fit her schedule, she can absolutely get 1 continuance on her own, with a justifiable reason, of course.. Like looking for a lawyer...

Unlike most states, Reckless Driving is a criminal offense in VA and it would save a 5 hour trip to be at court at 9am. Not sure showing up lawyerless and having 6 points on her license for 11 years is worth the chance.

I've lived in NC all my life, and never received a speeding ticket, BUT the two times i've went to VA I've received one every time. I've represented myself both times and the judge dismissed them.

I always knew JR would be starting a lawyer needed thread, but I had no idea it would just be for a speeding ticket.

Call a local lawyer in your home town and ask him to reccomend someone in the town in VA. that you got the ticket. I had to pay a fine but no insurance points on my NC license.

Can't stand VA. You go 5 over and they're on you like white on rice. As to the lawyer, I got nothing. If it was closer to the NC border I could help some
