well... if it's any consolation, there's absolutely 0 chance they ever finish it.

Don't be so sure... They've pretty much confirmed that they'll be covering everything GRRM has written/will write... I think the kicker is if HE ever finishes writing it all, and if HBO continues to fund it...

If HBO decided to pull the plug, for whatever reason, I doubt the producers and GRRM would have a hard time finding someone else to pick them up...

Maybe you just believe in the 2012 hype?

As would the Reeds... I mean, you gonna send Bran north alone with Hodor? What about the greendreams, and guidance/advice by the Reeds?

i can't see this being cut out either, but i agree with your other assessment that it may just be pushed to season 3 to help keep things together

watching season 1 with my wife, who can pick up on things pretty well, i still had to go through it and explain certain things and who was related to who, etc. our running joke at the moment is that we need a giant white board next to our entertainment center so we can write out the family trees and connections as they happen

but, at the same time... i'm telling myself to watch this show the same way i watch the walking dead. the show and source material are two different entities, i'm expecting things to be different.

i am concerned with the amount of useless content they shoved into season 1 (robert and cersei's lulz over their marriage keeping the kingdom together) at the expense of developing dany and drogo's relationship

but as far as leaving out the boltons, i have a feeling that was a sacrifice they had to make for continuity purposes

if they had gotten actors for those roles, they may have had to change them between seasons which would only add to the confusion

the safe choice for a bit part like that is to leave it out until you're ready to actually establish the characters to the viewers with thespians dedicated to the roles

like they're having to do with jaqen h'gar

except h'gar wasn't named, nobody really got a good look at him, so the change really doesn't interrupt anything

bran's storyline would be pretty pooty without the green kids though

agree with all of this... but most of that extra shiat was used to develop backstories which were told internally in the books... narratively they pissed me off but I really appreciated that they took the time to inject the info.

We reported on this in another post, but the rumors continue to swirl and so we thought it deserved its own post. We are now hearing from multiple sources that HBO plans to order both seasons three and four and film them back-to-back (à la Lord of the Rings). It has already been confirmed that A Storm of Swords would be covered in more than one season. From what we have heard, much of the film crew in Northern Ireland has been told of this plan and has been advised to expect nine months of filming next year.

Winter Is Coming: I have no doubt that this is an option that HBO is exploring, perhaps even leaning towards, but I don’t think it is a done deal just yet. HBO likely won’t announce anything official until season two begins, so they could change their minds before then.

It does make sense though, to do it this way, as they’ve already said they will be splitting book three into multiple seasons. This way they get the whole of the book filmed in one go, saving on production costs and keeping the kids from aging in between seasons.

I think you meant A Storm of Swords ;)

They are wrapping up filming A Clash of Kings as I type...

Lol that's what I said. In my opinion it's the best of the books, with one of the biggest WHAM! moments I've ever. Read.

God, I'm so excited. Since I finished Dance and watching the series on HBOGo and I'm having some serious withdrawal.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Bran: "Hey, Hodor. I've been having these crazy dreams. I think I'm a warg..."

Hodor: "HODOR. HODOR HODOR."

Bran: "This storyline sucks now."
