At this point I am totally pleased with the show either way, but I am fearful of how they are going to accomplish some things should it continue beyond season 2... without it coming out looking like a Sy-Fy network movie...

I'm more talking along the lines of 3 dragons (which I'm sure they'll have to deal with in season 2 anyways) and things beyond the wall like giants, mammoths, and The Others (which I suppose we've seen a brief hint of in the first episode's prologue)

I'd be surprised if the budget for the series didn't increase. I'm hoping they add more episodes and kind of gloss over the expensive extravagant poo as best they can. Like they did with the battles last night.

As far as the necessary cgi goes, it may be treated somewhat like the direwolves, and only shown when the story absolutely calls for it.

Eventually the direwolves will have to be cgi as well I believe.

Sadly I agree with the Wolves.

They get big...like really big.

For the average viewer everything is hunky doory.

I read somewhere that it will be at least a year... They haven't even worked out contracts with new cast folks yet, per GRRM himself...

In other words, enough time for everyone to go out and buy the books and read them all... Don't forget the 5th one comes out in July!

Lucas set precedents for the way movies are made, and his universe far outshines Martin's... BUT, the stuff I like more from ASOIAF than I do with Star Wars is the quality of writing and character development... sooo much better...

I don't know if anything can ever trump Star Wars, but GRRM is currently 2nd in my book...
