I don't think Ned was stupid.  But he was naive and bound by a sense of honor that few had.  I do think he felt that he was walking into a snake pit when he went to Kings Landing.  He was smart enough to not want to go, but he felt honor bound to go anyway.  As far as the Stark Children, most of them have performed fairly well given the circumstances they were thrust into.  Even Robb Stark did fairly well, considering he was a 16 year old or so boy matched up against a intelligent, experienced, wealthy and ruthless Tywin Lannister.

Also, the Starks still have a shot at coming out the eventual winner in the game of thrones.  In reality, they probably have a better shot than the Lannisters do.

Jon Snow was raised by Ned.  All the Stark boys of the show seem to believe in the Ned "trait" IMO.

Well, Brandon the Builder did magical and impossible things per the stories....so yeah, Rickon not realizing a little zig zag might be wise does make him look about as silly as possible in a past/present Stark comparison.

but Bran is going to break this whole show in half IMO...

Yeah Bran definitely is a Stark in the mold of the Starks of history. He's going to be a badass.

Robb is the biggest example of dopey Ned genetics. Preaches honor honor honor but does something dishonorable and stupid like breaking an oath to marry the girl his dick wants more.

it will interesting to see the route the TV show goes with Bran.....and Martin IF he ever finishes.  Lot of possibilities for some crazy stuff there.  Door is open for them to do too much with Bran for my liking

I need legit spoilers if someone has them. Someone spoiled the last episode for me, so I want to pay them back by spoiling the finale.

Any help would be appresh

good luck... I will let you know if I find any...

I think all the leakers have been pretty tight lipped about this one, which makes me a little nervous in a way...

This, is kinda what I was asking about....and then Jon so easily getting suckered right into Ramsay's hands.  Just seems like they are honorable, but can't see past the tip of their noses.

Sansa and Arya are doing better for sure, and I get the age thing, but man, they tend to make bad decisions.

Yeah a year ago Sansa was doing needlepoint and writing shitty adolescent poems about the knights she wants to marry some day. I'd say she's had some of the most actual growth in the books, her and Arya both. But every once in a while they remind us they're still teenagers.

I give Snow a bit of a pass there...he basically had no choice but to go after Rickon.    All it would have taken was Rickon to make one freaking half hearted evasive turn....or for Ramsay to miss would a extremely difficult shot even for an expert on the one that got Rickon.   Now, that was an expert play by Ramsay.  But Ramsay was going in with a stacked deck.  Snow did what he had to....and he almost got to him.   There wasn't really a smart play for Snow there IMO.

and I would argue Sansa's call not to tell her brother and all those fighting about the potential of the Vale and how that could of impacted their fight plan/schedule.....was idiotic big picture.   People are crediting her with being the ultimate badass of the episode....but I wouldn't rush to that.  What Sansa did in the last episode...was pointlessly hold useful info from Snow and company and give Ramsay an epic lecture about "loyal" dogs turning on him.  How can Snow trust Sansa after all that?

I was talking about that around the water cooler yesterday. Why would Sansa withhold that information knowing it could get her brother and his army slaughtered? All she had to say was, "wait another day and the knights of the vale will be here". Could have spared a lot of lives.

There may be some trust issues.

Sansa and her half brother, Jon, rarely talked to one another when they were living at Winterfell.

I think it was more likely she didn't know for certain LF was coming.  If she knew and withheld the information, then she was responsible for the deaths of a lot of troops fighting on the Stark side that might not have died if they had known the Knights of the Vale were coming and planned accordingly.

For Jon, I would say the big mistake was after Rickon was dead, he lost it and charged the line by himself.  The plan they had might have worked, had he simply turned around and headed back to his lines with Rickon's body.  Between his stupid play, Sansa's foolish withholding of information, and Ramsay's failure to set any pickets to warn him if Snow held a few troops back and tried to flank him or some other force approached, none of them looked very smart in the end.
