Yeah, excellent episode, basically what everyone has been wanting all season.

Curious as to why they had the Mereen stuff in this episode when they could have done that in the last episode and had two great episodes instead of one incredible episode... maybe I answered my own question...

The battle was excellent, incredible filming...  shame that Rickon didn't figure out how to dodge and weave a bit...

Seriously surpised that Davos didn't walk over and cut Melisandre's head off... maybe that's coming.

The end for Ramsay was very fitting and the fact that Sansa got to oversee it was perfect.

More thoughts later I'm sure, I'll probably re-watch today while I'm working.

I think it's because next episode is going to have a crazy scene as well (Cersei).

I think the Freys died next week via some poisoning from Arya, but we'll see.

The fact they put in Dany's scenes and all that, plus next week being like 70 minutes long, means there should be a lot packed into next episode.

Well GoT is ruined now. None of the Characters left I really hate. Shouldn't have killed Ramsey off.  Having him mangled yeah but to killed him leaves no truly evil characters left.

Give them time...they know how to really make you hate someone.

It was a great episode, but three things are really bothering me.  I'd like to see what you guys think.  Now, keep in mind, I'm one of those guys that finds the spoofs in movies, so yea, I'm that guy.  I don't like it, but it's the way I am.

1) In Mereen, they just setup a nice like chat with the Masters while their city was still being attacked in the background?  And, they were able to invite and plan the meeting in about 5 minutes?  Irked me a little bit, but not a big deal.  Loved the way it played out afterwards.

2) Jon just somehow didn't get hit by a horse right at the beginning of the battle scene?  When two lines of horses meet right where he's standing?  I'm willing to go along with the he is the "chosen prince" if you guys say that's what it is.  The cinematography immediately following this was absolutely amazing though.

3) Where the hell did the mountain of corpses come from?  I get that you would have some small piles, but like a twenty foot wall just appears and people keep fighting at the top of the mounds?  Say what?  Ramsey really planned that one, huh?

Other then those things, it was an amazing episode.  Definitely the best battle scene they've ever done.  It was nice to see the Stark banners fly again and I'm anxious to see what happens.  The North is a mess right now.  I wonder what will happen to the houses that went to Team Bolton.

Fair amount of suspension of belief going on here...  not really any other way to do it unfortunately.

I'm re-watching it as I type this and noticed another little boo-boo... Sansa had already ridden off when Ramsey made the "dogs haven't eaten in 7 days" comment... I suppose Jon could have told her that, but...

I thought the same things. Add in that Tormund, Jon and Wun Wun are the only ones, way ahead of everyone else, running towards the castle and apparently 2 dozen or so bowman beat Jon and Tormund there. #CannonFodder

But none of the little problems bothered me all that much. It was a great episode and the fall of Ramsey felt right.

To add to what I said earlier...I think that Littlefinger is also going to make you hate him before it's all over.

He has the men at Winterfel, and will request Sansa's hand, what happens when she coldly turns away?  And I fully expect her to do so.

I can only imagine next week is going to be insane. It is 70 minutes long, not counting beginning and end credits.

I'll hide my speculations behind spoiler tags because my estimations include supposedly leaked information on some storylines...

Oldtown/The Citadel:
We get a scene with Sam and Gilly arriving and Sam meeting a Maester. The Maester is at the rookery about to send out his white ravens, which signify the Winter arriving in Westeros. Sam brings up who he is and what he's done, and what he's there for, and he and Gilly are taken in.

Winterfell:
Littlefinger and Sansa meet beneath the weirwood. Littlefinger hints at wanting Sansa again, and tells her that he wants to unite the North with the Vale, march southwards towards King's Landing, and rule over everyone that will not bend the knee to them. He sells it as revenge for the Starks, but Sansa sees through it a bit. Regardless, she takes the ideas to Jon, who once again is resistant. He wants to play it safe, and make preparations there for what is coming, and even head back North to help at the Wall. He tells Sansa that bad things are coming, and that they have to stick together now.

Melisandre, Davos, and Jon are in the feasting hall (which is pretty empty) and discussing what to do now. Melisandre is vying for an offering to the LoL. She wants Jon to burn those who opposed him. She is also trying to fill Jon's head with how the Lord of Light has big plans for him yadda yadda yadda and Davos steps in and finally calls her on her past actions. He brings up how Stannis believed in her, and admits that she had some sort of powers, yes... But at what cost? He brings up Melisandre burning Shireen, saying that it was something that was unnecessary and accomplished nothing, and that her visions or interpretations aren't always correct. She was a child, yadda yadda yadda. Jon is put off by it a bit. Jon gives the order to Davos to have all the dead bodies outside Winterfell burned before nightfall.

Mereen:
Preparations are being made for the departure to Westeros. The pieces are being picked up after the battle, and Dany is trying to determine what's best to do with the city after she leaves. Tyrion tells her that her alliance with the Greyjoys was a smart one, and that she is now playing the game which is Westeros. The fleet will be salvaged, supplies will be loaded, etc. Daario offers to take part of the fleet ahead in order to meet Euron's forces and make preparations for her army's landing, and she gives him leave to do so.

Riverlands:
The Freys and Lannisters are celebrating their victory at the Twins. Edmure has pledged Tully and Riverrun's support to the crown, and Walder Frey been made liege lord of the Riverlands. Jaime takes his leave to make his way back to King's Landing, and is accompanied by Bronn and some others.

Jaime and Bronn get apprehended by the BWOB, now including one Sandor Clegane. The Hound wants to head south with the new prisoners to ransom them back to the Crown, but Berric and Thoros want no part of that. They want to stay there, or head North even, to fight the coming threat. It is decided that Clegane will be allowed to take his leave and take the new prisoners with him. He runs into Brienne and Pod. Talk about awkward. Jaime has freed Brienne, who has defeated the Hound. Pod served alongside Bronn with Tyrion, but is now squire to Brienne. What a mess.

Back at the Twins, Hot Pie appears and starts doling out some pie during the revelry. Before too long, people start getting sick and pulling Joffrey's. A girl seems unfazed. She approaches the dais where Walder sits laughing but horrified. He didn't have any pie. The girl pulls off her face, and it is Arya. She wields Needle and offs him.

King's Landing:
Preparations are made for the trial by seven. Seven septons and a large crowd setup inside the Sept of Baelor for Margaery, Loras, and Cersei's trial. I think Loras will go first, and he will somehow be absolved of any wrongdoings, cleansed, and allowed to leave the sept to be cleansed symbolically.

Margaery enters, and she too is absolved. She takes a seat in the sept and awaits Cersei's trial.

The Little Birds show up and off Kevan Lannister and Pycelle in their chambers on orders from Qyburn

Cersei doesn't appear at the Sept, and the High Sparrow takes his leave, dispatched by Tommen along with some of the Kingsguard and sparrows (Lancel?,) now knights of the Faith, to retrieve her.

Gregorstein throws the High Sparrow from the ramparts, and makes quick work of the Kingsguard who don't yield in the process.

Cersei then heads to the Sept and beckons Tommen to leave with her at once. He refuses, and Cersei has the Sept sealed up, barring the doors. Panic ensues, and the Tommen is rushed to the upper levels/chambers of the Sept. The Wildfire is ignited, and large explosions start in the Sept. Tommen gets sealed inside one of the chambers and his exits are blocked with burning green flames. His choice is to burn to death or jump from the window, and he chooses the window.

The Wildfire sets off a chain reaction, and the major buildings in Kings Landing are brought to ruins thanks to the cache of Wildfire that we heard about in E9 and hinted upon by Qyburn in E8. Kings Landing is burning.

Bran:
They've made it back to the godswood where Jon and Sam took their oaths. Benjen says the wall isn't far (in fact, it is well within sight) and that they will be there before nightfall. Benjen asks Bran about his visions, and asks what he has seen. Bran tells him about the Tower of Joy, and that his father had lied to him about what happened. Benjen tells Bran that he had his reasons. When prodded, Benjen tells Bran that the truth is out there for him to see, but that he has always known the truth. Bran's eyes roll back after he touches the weirwood tree and we get the completion of the Tower of Joy. Ned finds Lyanna dying from the incision made to pull Jon out of her abdomen. She makes Ned promise to raise Jon as his own son, and save her honor in the process. Bran wakes up and tells Benjen what he saw, and the truth he now knows. Benjen knew all along, and swore an oath to keep the secret that Ned confided in him, and to look out for Jon because he knew what his blood would mean one day.

Back at Winterfell:
We see Jon. He is meeting with Sansa and Littlefinger hearing about Littlefinger's plans. Jon is resistant to head south because he knows what is coming. He wants to remain in the North to fight the coming threat. Littlefinger pulls out a trump card which is correspondence between Ned and Benjen concerning what happened at the Tower of Joy. Littlefinger knew the whole time that Jon was the biggest chess piece in Westeros, and he's using this newly delivered information in order to try to convince Jon that he is indeed heir to the Iron Throne and get him to March South. Jon wants no part of it, though, and Littlefinger asks permission to take his leave in order to do it himself. He tries to get Sansa to go with him, but she won't.

Bran:
The horns at the Wall are sounded and the gate is opened. Bran and Meera enter the tunnel. Benjen can't because of the wards on the wall and the magic keeping him alive. They part ways. Bran meets Edd and the other Night's Watch, tells them who he is, and what is coming. Edd gives the order to make preparations for war, and doubles the watch. Bran begins to dream about the Night's King coming to the wall. There is a huge storm at the wall and a horn sounds. The wall cracks and crumbles in parts, and we see the Night's King's army start coming through. He wakes up to realize it was only a dream, but knows he has to warn everyone. He asks Edd to give he and Meera provisions for a journey southward, and at that time the weather starts getting worse and worse.

Cut to outside Winterfell and our last shot is a white raven flying towards Winterfell, with a snowstorm at its back.

AGAIN! Most of this is speculation based on leaks and the trailer and how I think things could go.

Either way, as you can see, E10 has a chance to be even better than E9.

Future things I think are being set up from a lot of this:

Jaime to get back to KL and see Cersei as equal to the Mad king, and he himself will kill her because she basically willingly killed their last child for no good reason other than her own hatred of everything.

The Hound to fight his brother during this same event.

Dany to make her landing in Dorne, and pick up more strong women who hate Westeros in the Sand Snakes.

Euron vs. Dany in a sea battle.

Sam finding out more about Heartsbane and Valyrian steel being useful against WWs.

Oh also... I had typed this out in my spoiler speculation but I couldn't nail down how I thought it might happen, so I changed it a bit... but I'm wondering/hoping something like this happens:

After Littlefinger pulls out his knowledge of Jon's lineage, I could see Sansa having enough of him and her killing him right there in Winterfell in front of Jon. It would kind of make a mess of things with the Knights of the Vale, but maybe they could save it with some sort of letter to Robyn or talking with the other higher-up people from the Vale that hopefully accompanied them.

I agree.

I think Littlefinger is way under the radar with legit potential.  He has a sophisticated manner but I don't think he gives a poo about anyone and that eventually it will really show up

but GOT has 2 more seasons left.  They will need more than just the Nights King and company for us to route against

It was 5 minutes in our time.   Could have been a couple of hours or more in the shows time.

Honestly (and this isn't directed at you), I do get a little tired of people complaining about how fast things happen on the show.  Troops or ships getting to a certain place to quickly mostly.  The show never tells us how much time has passed, nor do they say that the kings landing or Mereen part is happening at the same time as the events around Winterfell.  It would be boring as hell is they show a lot of the march to Winterfell, or the trip from the Iron Islands.  It seems nitpickly thing to complain about.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
