The waif was far more experienced and advanced in her training, so of course Arya isn't at her level.  And she's not going to be some super soldier, what she is is someone that has learned how to blend in and kill people in a variety of ways.  She also has natural cunning, a serious mean streak, and is quite fierce.  She's not going to be a bull in a China shop like the Clegane's, but will be more subtle and likely to have cut somebody's throat before they even realize she is standing right in front of them.  Her role won't be like Jon's, where he'll be at the front of an army getting into hand-to-hand combat.  She'll be like an assassin, unseen and deadly.
