I think the end game is basically Jon and Dany have to team up to save the realm.

Bran and Tyrion will have parts to play too. I'm just not sure what those will be at the moment.

If you want my guesses on book/show stuff, here goes...

Dany will get her fleet. In the books it'll be Victarion, in the show it'll be Yara (Asha) and Theon. The show is going to go for a women's empowerment front with Dany, and Yara will be all for it.  Dany will sail to Westeros and take the south (including King's Landing, which will be made more easy to do by Varys' planning ahead of time.) She'll then set her sights on pulling Dorne back into the fold (adding even stronger female allies.)

In the North, Jon and Sansa will retake Winterfell with the help of the Vale. Rickon will die. Littlefinger is still playing the game pretty hard, but Sansa will be his undoing. Uncle Benjen shows back up at some point and helps Bran and Meera get back to the wall and escape the White Walkers, who end up honing in on Bran's location and attacking the cave. Eventually Bran, Sansa, and Jon are reunited, Jon's bloodline is confirmed by both Bran and Benjen. The Wall ends up coming down (via the Horn of Winter or something.) This obviously means winter has arrived, and the White Walkers advance southwards. I don't know how all this will play out because there are so many elements involved. But Dany is going to need to help her nephew Jon out. At this point, they might be betrothed to each other to unite the Seven Kingdoms, north and south alike.

There will be a huge battle, to fight off the coming Long Night and Winter, involving the dragons. Many will die, but I think some of the main characters will survive.

The missing pieces here are Arya and Euron. I am not sure where they come into play, but I suppose they will have some sort of big roles. I think Arya, based on "leaks" or theory, is going to get enough training to be dangerous, but then flees Braavos back to Westeros after being given a mark to kill to prove she is no one that she doesn't want to kill. Maybe she takes out a few more names on her list when she gets home? Some think she sticks with the Faceless Men and is tasked with taking out Bran or something, because Bran is altering history with his influencing the past (thus cheating the god of Death) and she refuses and flees, which causes her to be marked. I don't really know what to expect from her moving forward.

I'm not sure what Euron will be up to in either version of GoT. In the books, I think he may end up luring Dany in in hopes of turning his coat on her or using her, but being in for a big surprise when she rebukes him. In the show, we may get a sea battle in which he tries to attack Yara (Asha) and Dany on their way to Westeros, and suffers a similar fate.

Yup, could see a lot of that happening.   One thing is for sure, this show is going to get a lot more "magical" in the next seasons.  I hope they have the budget to do it right.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if we get an epic 3-hour movie to finish it up, in the theaters.

My question is now that the show is surpassing the books, will Martin alter his plans for the book in order to still surprise his reading audience?  After all, now that he's behind the show, he can't just follow that same path (the show has had some deviation from the books, but they were ultimately heading in the same general direction), otherwise what would be the point of reading any new books.

Well damn...

I feel kinda bad for the children. The oldest living beings in the entire world wiped out in 5 minutes. Should've made a whole lot more of those bombs...a lot more.

And of course poor Hodor.

Do we know that was all of them.  Might be more in other places, or am I forgetting something?

Could be but they aren't referenced heavily and the flashback earlier in the episode only showed a few.  One of them said the reason for creating the white walkers was because men were killing the children. Not sure they can reproduce/spawn?
