Gruden's extended QB Camp w/ Newton (drills included)

I actually liked how he came off (except for play 36...weak)... and I'm not a Cam Newton fan.

He seemed like a down to earth humble fun lovin dude... and not the icon/entertainer that some make him out to be.

His success in the NFL will be determined by how hard he's willing to work... it's all up to him cause he's got everything else.

Then you probably missed the laser-rocket arm at the end.

Uhm, that's impossible.

Lasers are energy based weapons, and rockets are ballistics. ;)

Nah, just clowning.

I wasn't thrilled with this excerpt of the interview, but I was impressed by the throws. Seems like the guy has good chemistry with most people, a guy like that, who can first lead by example as he said in the first piece of the QB camp that was posted, can take hold of a locker room and really bring a team together.

Something that Clausen clearly wasn't able to do whatsoever, as there were reports from OTAs and training camp last year that he wasn't talking to anyone and was very much own his own, by himself all the time. Am I getting that right?

Really? Tom Brady has said the same thing several times. As have MANY players in the NFL who were doubted coming into the league. I have no problem with that. And I don't really get the problems with the gun reference. It wasn't awkward at all until Gruden asked him to repeat it so they could get a better soundbyte to pick apart on Sportscenter for the next week.

I'm as high on him as ever after watching this. His passes looked great. I also don't get why everyone is so surprised by the fact Auburn has a simple offense. We all knew that from day one. It's no secret. I suppose it all comes down to whether or not you believe he is capable of learning the NFL schemes, which I do. Not being asked to do something and not being able to are two totally different things.

Yeah man, you are right about Auburn's Offense.

As far as the motivation, I may have misheard what I thought he had said. I was thinking Gruden asked him what motivates him, but he didn't he asked how he dealt with the haters.

After re-watching it, the answer is okay. It comes off messy, but like I said before, I can sympathize with how difficult it must be to be on Camera like that in front of a Superbowl winning coach, whose specialty is QB's, drilling you.

Honestly, I am more concerned with Shula and Chud teaching Cam than I am with Cam's abilities.

Part of the full version that will air the 18th (I THINK, someone check the original QB camp thread, I posted the date there)

I just do not want this kid. Too many Red flags, too many issues period. The kid just got plain stupid when gruden got ahold of him in regards to plays. No fuging way do I want to waste a pick on this kid.

Everything you see in this segment shows exactly what I have felt the entire time.

There is something special about Newton but he is as raw as they come and will need time to adjust to the pro game.

You shouldn't automaticlly say no to this kid based on his lack of knowledge. If the team feels he can and will learn the verbage and systems then you draft him. However, you can not make this pick and expect him to start within the first year. And based on how things may play out with the CBA, it could be two years before he is ready. This isn't a knock agaisnt him, it's just the way it is. Can he be ready faster? Sure. But the plan going in has to be a two year plan (maybe one if a deal gets done sooner).

He made some really nice throws, big contrast to the combine - he's clearly been working hard.

It's clear that learning the complexity of NFL offenses will be the biggest challenge for him, I have no concerns about his physical ability to play QB at the NFL level.

This is pretty much what's been said about him since day one. Nobody has ever questioned him physically, in any way, ever. QB is a mental game though.

Cam doesn't need 2 years to effective....just like The Golden Calf of Bristol didn't need 2 years to be functional. Cam probably needs 2 years to really start tapping into his real potential.....but he can start working and being effective much sooner than 2 years imo.

People are making way too big of a deal out of the gun analogy. Announcers say stuff like that all the time, "that kid is like a loaded gun." Cam didn't say he was going to load his gun and go shoot up a retirement home. Come on people.

Cosign no one knows which prospects will be ready or not as you said look to last year for proof of that Clausen/The Golden Calf of Bristol "nfl ready vs project QB"...
